I asume the pin is in the computer. Remove the battery from the computer. With a small slot type screw driver, try to reach in and straighten the pin. Be very gentle and do not break it off. If this happens you will have to replace the power connector in the computer, not an easy task.

Why would a year and a half old dell laptop stop charging and give the message "use a 65a Adapter" which is what the laptop came with and I'm using.

Dell uses a 3 pin charger.. inner ring, outer ring, and center pin. The center pin tells the laptop what the rating of the charger is. Is the pin broken? or bent.. or perhaps the charger is bad

Acer 1410 can't turn on with cord plugged in

The battery isn't charging, from what you describe. Sounds like a bent pin, or a bad charging circuit. Waranty should cover, unless it was dropped or 'abused,' assuming that it was a new present. Take a quick look at the battery connection.

VOSTRO 1710 BATTERY WON'T CHARGE

If the battery will not charge, try this:

1.) First, power reset the unit by powering it off, unplugging it from AC power, removing the battery, then push and hold the power button on the unit for about 60 seconds.

2.) Next, plug the AC adapter back in (LEAVE THE BATTERY OUT), power the unit on. Does the unit power on?

If yes, Power the unit off and put the battery back in, let it charge overnight. If, after this the battery will still not charge, you will have to replace the battery. Contact the OEM to ensure you get the correct battery.

If no, remove the AC adapter carefully, look inside the DC port (where the charger plugs in to the laptop) you should see a small silver pin. Is this pin missing or bent? If the pin seems to be in good shape, then most likely you will have to replace the AC adapter. If it IS bent or missing, then you will need to contact a laptop repair center.

My acer aspire 5315 doesnt charge properly.

Hi,
I'm sorry to say that your initial fears are correct and the pin that the adapter connects to in the laptop is loose. This is a common problem with laptop's and can be easily dealt with.
Now I'm not going to tell you to open the laptop up and de-solder the adapter (unless you want me to).
Because this is a fiddly job and you have to order the correct adapter i recommend you take it to a reputable repair store and have them replace the adapter for you, don't let them tell you that you need a new motherboard as this is not the case at all, adapters can and do get regularly get fixed and is not that expensive.

Good luck.

Once you get the pin repaired be sure and use some sort of cable stay or restraint so it doesn't happen again. . .

Here's something I recommend. . .

hi, if the port is working fine, its ok.. but do not use this port, since its damaged, it could short the pins inside while pluging the cable, left side is better
