It's funny that the unit is blowing cool air outside but hot air inside—almost like it's working backward. Mine was doing something similar, except now it won't turn on at all. I'm not sure if you've already fixed your problem, but I think I'll call a professional cooling system service to see if they can fix mine. http://www.dandrservicesinc.com/about-us...

It sounds like you have a unit called a heat pump. When a heat pump unit is in cooling mode the outside unit blows hot air and the inside unit blows cold air. If the outside unit is blowing cold then the indoor unit is most likely blowing room temperature or warm air. It sounds like the thermostat could be controlling incorrectly or you could have a failed reversing valve which is the device that switches the unit from heating to cooling mode.

To add to jacks reply sometimes the compressor can be overheated. turn off and carefully spray some water on the compressor. spraying through the fan guard is ok just try not to spray too much on any wiring. cool for 10 minutes or so and try again. obviously if there's ice this approach will not work and you need service

The compressor on the outdoor unit probably didn't start. Most people will see the outdoor fan motor running and tell me "the outdoor unit is working". You can try turning the cooling off, waiting 5-10 mins, then trying again. But if the compressor didn't start upon demand, it needs to be serviced. And if the compressor is running and not cooling, turn it off and have it serviced. May be low on freon. Look for ice on the copper lines at outdoor unit. If you see ice, turn it off because it's frozen up. Hope this helps!

Why does it just blow cool air?

Check outside condensing unit. Should feel warm to hot air blowing out of the top. If cool to outside air temperature blowing off you likely have a refrigerant problem

2000 NISSAN 4X4 P/U A/C SYSTEM WILL BLOW COLD WHEN OUTSIDE AIR TEMP IS COOL, WHEN HOT OUTSIDE AIR BLOWS HOT.

your auxillary fan is not working. this fan is responsible for cooling the freon that is being circulated in your cooling system... check if there are any loose wires in front of the engine bay.

the auxillary fan is located right beside your radiator fan.

My central air conditioner is making a whistling noise in the inside unit when the compressor is running. It's not the blower because the noise stops after the outdoor unit shuts off. It's also not blowing...

Hello,
If there is no cooling (meaning no cold pipes and not blowing cold air) then check the outdoor A/C for any visible/obvious issues; breakers not tripped, no debris blocking the outside unit from passing air through it, etc. If all looks ok, you can start checking some things inside of the unit if you feel comfortable doing so. Also, most indoor heaters have a higher speed/rpm for the fan when the cooling kicks on, and the heat runs on a lower speed/rpm.

Hope this helps James

Cold air blows outside and hot air inside

Make sure it is in cooling mode. Sounds like you may have a problem with the reversing valve but you would want to check the pressures in the system first and make sure the charge isn't low.

We have a fujitsu air con model ast9lsbcw which blows cold air from the outside unit and the inside unit is not cooling the room.

Sounds like you have it in heating mode or it is low on charge. In cooling mode, the outside fan should blow hot air not cold.

Cooling problem

Since it is not so hot outside you may have to adjust the Thermostat to a lower setting to get the AC unit to kick on the compressor and blow out cold air. Give it a try, and if not the T-stat then we can go from there.

Non-working outside unit

If your unit is blowing heat inside and it's not a heat pump. It will be most likely electric heat in your case.
Sounds like you have a split unit meaning the condenser is outside and the cooling and the heat features are inside or under your home.If your Rudd is a heat-pump the outside unit will cycle/blow cold air outside in winter and hot air will cycle/blow outside during the summer season. Now, if for some reason the heat  is not coming on inside the house, would be the only reason that you would need to be concerned. Being a heat relay or breaker of could cause that problem. Hope this helps you, Sea Breeze
