Re: Kenmore Elite Gas Dryer 7 years Old Mod# 110 72982101
Make sure your vent duct is not clogged up. If the machine can't breathe properly it will short cycle the burner.
If this is ok, it sounds like the flame sensor has failed. Also, the thermistor should not read open, it should have some resistence. It changes depending on the temp. Open the back of the console and you should have a tech sheet that gives all the readings and diagnostic checks.

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heatingthe most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glowssometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many differentthings that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.
check outthis electric no heat tip...
when you start the dryer does the igniter glow red hot? they crack very easy.If you are sure you put the wires on the fuse the right way,and the igniter is glowing, and you remembered to turn the gas back on,( I've done that ), no kinks in the gas line. The next thing I would look at is the gas vavle, or coils. good luck.

if it runs for the first 15 to 30 minutes and then no heat you have bad gas coils, located on top of the gas valve, when the coils heat up they fail,if you try to start it again after it sits for a long time it will lite again, also you could have a bad gas valve, try tapping the valve to see if it lites,if it does lite while you're tapping on it most likely it will be the valve, let me know what you find and send the model number.good luck
Presuming that you checked the obvious gas flow.
It is most likely 1 of 2 problems.
Most likely the electric igniter is burn out or cracked. when the unit is turned on it will glow red hot and then tell the gas valve to start the gas flow and then you have fire. BUT 2) if the roll out limiter switch lies to the machine and tells it 'Hey the fire is out of control! Shut off the gas' it will never open the gas valve to start the fire.
IF the igniter is cracked you may not see it. It simply won't work.
If the roll out limiter switch is broken you definitely will not see it broken.
Both problems are common. Neither have a way of testing with a multimeter if they are good.
The third and very, very rare is the control console is broken. I would check to see if the glow igniter is working first.
HI, Check your 4" vent to the outside and make sure it is clean and that it has no kinks. Any restriction to the outside will cause the dryer to short cycle. All thermostats must have continuity. With the dryer running, remove the lint screen and check to see if there is good air flow by putting your hand in where the filter goes (it is safe). You should feel air rushing past your hand if the vent is clear. I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
