Disc Read Error Sony DVD Handycam

Hello. I have been filming using a Sony Dcr-DvD105 DVD video camera, using three of the above DVD RW discs(double sided), all fresh from the wrapper. All discs were great but one side of one disc failed to copy onto my hard drive using my usual editing suit(Ulead studio 10).Unfortunatly as is always the case it was the footage I needed the most. I attempted to transfer using other software,Nero,DVD Shrink, Ulead DVD movie factory, Windows movie maker and Womble DVD wizard. All of the above reported an error at about the 70% mark. The disc was unmarked and played back in the camera perfectly. I did try to explore the disc and copy and paste to the hard drive but again the transfer stalled at about 70% and eventually failed. Windows media player will sometimes open the disc and replay the first half, again it eventually fails and the player stops responding. I did suspect the cd rom so I used the disc in three different desk top computers and the results were the same if not worse. I have browsed the net with not much luck, and e-mailed JVC And Sony support(who will no doubt remind me they are not liable for lost data and point me back to the FAQ?s). As the disc plays in the camera with no problem, I am hoping someone my have a clever work around or some magic recovery software. No hope is some hope? I am unable to finalise my disc, it has come up with an error code which states it's a faulty disc!!! Does anyone know if there is any way I could finalise it please? Incidentally it's a Sony Handycam. Thank you in advance. Kim

I am unable to play it back, the camera just says it's a disc error.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Does your camera have other outputs, i.e., composite-video and L/R audio ?

If the disk "plays" inside your video-camera, then use a "video-capture" USB device, to "play" the movie into the USB device, and "record" from the USB device into your computer.
