Question about Fountainhead/Burgess Prod Black Flag Propane Fogger

1 Answer

Fogger does not produce fog

The Blackflag Fogger heats up just fine, the fog solution tank is full. When the trigger is pumped there is pressure but little to no fog is produced.

It is common for the nozzle to plug up. If it is brass, it will unscrew and can be cleaned with a very small drill bit.

Karcher 395 motor does not stop running

if your machine was factory fitted with 'total stop system' TSS and has always stopped in the past then it is an issue with many possible parts !

does the machinw still operate at full pressure ?
if the machine can produce full pressure then it only has to produce 20 % more to actuate the TSS piston. When the stop piston moves it presses against an electrical switch tjat breaks the circuit. Producing 20% more pressure requires that your machine has no water leaks in the pump, hose, trigger gun or lance. Once you release the trigger the path back from the trigger to the pump TSS piston must be fully sealed.....

If you have a Karcher then you should always post your machines barcode.
The karcher barcode is on a silver sticker and is usually 15 digits long. Example 156987400000123 is actually model 1.569-874.0 and serial number 00123....

Ready heater Pro 100 (65-100,000 BTU0) strong oder that berns the eyes after a short period of time and is worse on low settings. Does have suffishent ventalation. What cold be wrong or cause this

Your eyes burn because the flame is burning too rich or too lean. Always start troubleshooting a fuel delivery problem by setting the pump pressure.

If the pressure is correct, check for a restricted fuel filter, a cracked end cover, air or vac leaks between the pump/nozzle and tank/nozzle.

DESA recommended annual replacement of the nozzle because they wear out and start producing a spray rather than a fog.

Troy-bilt presswasher that is running fine but has no pressure from the unit and any water that is flowing thru is very hot when the engine is running.

Hello,

Your machine is air locked. Air in the supply line reaches the pump and the pump cavitates, allowing very little water to get by. Since the pump is just chewing air, it is getting very hot, producing the result that you see.
With the engine off, turn on the supply water and allow it to flow through your washer. You may need to lock the trigger on the wand in the open position, or hold the trigger down while purging the supply line. Make sure that there are no kinks in the supply hose and that any loops in the hose are straightened out. Raise the hose above your waist and walk it the length of the hose to the washer, forcing any air pockets through the hose and through the machine. This entire process will take about 5 minutes or so.
Release the trigger, start the machine and get to work. If the machine doesn't put up enough full pressure when you crank it, try cranking it while holding the trigger open. Sometimes the overpressure valve sticks, and can prevent full pressure from being reached. Holding the trigger open bypasses this issue, but doesn't repair it.

Best regards, W/D--

American dj mini fog, I conected to wall, but the machine doesn't gets hot, and not make smoke, why?

There are two switches/buttons on top... You have to both turn on the unit and also activate it with the second button OR using a remote plugin box. The heater takes a bit of time to warm up internally. You will not sense much if any heat outside the unit... They take a few minutes to come on. Make sure you use approved "fog juice" in the unit.

This would be a weak fuel pump in the front tank would be my opinion, Its overheating due to constant overrun on the hills that the motor has demaded and it cannot produce. after it cools off its fine again yes?

Machine seems clogged

Hello, i just finished a successful repair. i did have to take it apart, and there were springs and ss balls(at fog liquid pickup end that i unscrewed to give easy access to blocked pipe) and such so work where parts won't be easily lost and pay attention during disassembly. The problem with mine(several years old) was blockage in the metal line(pipe) that carries the fogger liquid. i used carborator cleaner and a compressor hose with low pressure. i sprayed in the cleaner and then put air pressure each way back and forth till it eventually yet suddenly cleared out then allowed unobstructed passage. then flushed it to clean it well. BE CAREFUL, it can suddenly spray the cleaner out, safety glasses saved me from a bad accident but my face and lips were stinging from the cleaner, and that was with the end facing away from me(but into a bucket and it bounced back at me). Anyway, reassembly took a bit but now it fogs great again. Mine might be a different manufacturer(burgess) but most likely the same basic scenario. Best wishes

Grill no longer producing good heat

read manual...possibly triggered propane safety bypass. Close tank, Turn OFF all burners, disconnect tank. Open one burner for 1 minute and turn off again. Reconnect tank. NOW OPEN tank slowly, all the way. Turn on first burner and ignite with starter or light through port hole manually. Hopefully works better.

100,000 btu therm controled heater

What did you set the air pump pressure at? This is critical on heaters with Hot Surface Technology. Setting the pump pressure is always the FIRST place to start troubleshooting on these heaters.

Here are some things that can prevent ignition even though there is fuel & glow:
  1. wrong air pump pressure
  2. the nozzle is restricted & distorted not allowing fuel to contact the glowing ignitor
  3. the nozzle is worn. It should produce a cone of fog, not a spray.
  4. there is water in the tank below the fuel.

Won't fire up

Silvercliff- since you use the word “plug” I am assuming that you have a spark plug type heater, not the new technology HSI type (hot surface ignitor) that uses a glowbar and an onboard computer.

Reddy heaters are simple to troubleshoot, but you must understand how the system operates.

Since you state that the heater produces a fog at startup indicates that you are getting “some” fuel.

Obviously, the fuel is not igniting.

Now, you must determine if there is any spark. Is a good spark arcing across the electrodes on the plug? If not, is spark being produced by the Ignition Control unit (aka spark box, transformer) ? If not, is the Safety control (reset) sending electricity to the Ignition Control unit?

If there is a good strong spark at the plug, then you are having a fuel delivery problem, even though there is “some fuel”. Understand that the amount of fuel being delivered to the nozzle is DIRECTLY related to the air pump pressure. If the air pump pressure is not correct, then the fuel delivery is not correct. Setting the pump pressure is not difficult. Pump pressure is CRITICAL. Instructions for setting the air pump pressure can be found at www.reddyparts.com .

If the air pump pressure is correct, then check the following:
  1. Cracked air line preventing correct pressure at the nozzle.
  2. Cracked nozzle adapter preventing the fuel from being SUCKED from the tank.
  3. Clogged fuel filter.
  4. Restricted or worn nozzle. The fact that your heater is a spark plug type heater indicates that it has some age on it. DESA recommends annual replacement of the nozzle. Are you using the original nozzle? Worn nozzles produce a SPRAY. New nozzles produce a FOG. The nozzle produces a cone shaped fog. If the cone is missing (not hitting) the spark, for some reason, then there will be no ignition.
  5. Finally, and don’t laugh, is your fuel 100% kerosene or diesel? Water sinks to the bottom of the tank. The heater draws fuel from the bottom. If there is an inch of water on the bottom…….., well, water will not ignite.

I hope this helps.
