I saw a vintage Swing-a-way wall mount can opener in an antique shop that I'm thinking of purchasing. I can't see any way to get the can under the blade, though. It does not have the lever to lift up like the newer ones do. I want the older one because it seems to be made better and it has a nice look. Does anyone know how these older wall mount can openers work? Specifically, how to get the can in between the blades since there is no lever to lift? Thanks!

I think it had something to do with turning the handle backwards just a bit to set the can.. then turn the direction to open.. then backwards to remove the opened can..its in those gears on there..my granny had one forever on her sink backsplash..it was a swingaway..

Is a sewing machine vintage at 20 years or at 40 years old

That is probably a personal definition. To me, a vintage machine would be one that is more mechanical than computerized. .Some (below) seem to think it would be a heavy metal mechanical machine. But, to throw a monkey wrench into the discussion, what differentiates vintage from antique?

Please can you tell me where I can get one of your electric wall mounted can openers.

I have not seen an electric wall except used on eBay
(really long time) ...

My wife forbade the (space saver) under-cabnet after the
kitchen "freshen-up" (even tho I'm the cook).

So I keep my hand operated OXO in the drawer...

I think we are out of luck.

You weren't kidding when you said Vintage! I was thinking maybe 1950's. What you have is purely antique! I doubt you will easily find anything for something that old. There are a few websites online that cater to antique and vintage appliances. Some have forums where you can request info. You might fare better there.

Best wall mount for sylvania 6842thg plasma

To make it simple: Mounts go by the size of the TV.
You have the choice to get a standard mount that can only swing or a mount that can swing and tilt or even extend. Plasma TVs are a bit heavier, than LCDs therefore, you need a solid mount. There are wall mounts and ceiling mounts. Mounts can be purchased from Home Depot, Lowe's and best buy, they can also be bought on line. If you buy it from a local store and does not fit, you can take it back the next day, an option you wont have if you buy online.

Good luck
