Question about Kenmore 22422 Top Load Washer

Water pours out only on warm cycle

I have a Kenmore 80 series washer and it works fine on Hot or cold cycle. But, whenever I turn it to the warm cycle water pours out of the bottom of the machine.

I turned it over and everything appears to be hooked up and working. It ONLY happens on the warm cycle. Any suggestions?

No... haven't called anyone to look at it. I took it outside and took the shell almost completely off. I did tilt the bowl inside and remove the plastic fill basin? I made sure it was hooked up and the hose was connected properly and put it back in (that was a pain). Put it all back together... same thing. Cold... fine. Hot... fine. Warm... SPLASH!

I can't think of anything that will cause this of fthe top of my head, so you have caught my curiosity.

The only difference in warm and the others is the amount of water coming in is more so you may have a splashing problem.

Remove the trim pieces on each side of the console and remove the two screws holding the console to the cabinet.

If you have automatic dispensers, there will be a plastic cover on the left side onder the console. remove it and unhook the hoses going to the dispensers.

You will see two metal clips holding the back of the machine to the cabinet. Remove them and unhook the wiring connector that goes to the lid switch.

The cabinet will tilt forward and slide off.

Look at the detergent and bleach inlets on the tub ring and make sure they aren't clogged.

If you have a rubber hose hooked to the rear top of the tub ring, check it for a torn place where it bends. There was a design change in that because of leaks.

If all this checks out ok, hold the hoses that you unhooked from the dispensers over the edge of the tub and turn the washer on in warm fill and see if you can see where the water is coming from.

Post back to let me know what you find. If these instructions don't apply to your machine, open the lid and get the complete model number for the machine and I will look it up and see what you have.

I pull the knob to do a regular wash and nothing happens, no water no agitation. However, when I turn the knob to rinse it that works. This suddenly happened, was working before. Is it the knob?

Rinse on most washers is cold water your wash cycles can be cold hot and even warm. Problem You may have is a bad water feed valve Or Timer and possible bad wire harness at motor to timer
check water valve Turn washer to regular wash cycle pull knob on will washer fill ?
if water starts to fill then change washer temp if washer has this.
if water comes out on all settings water valve is fine.
Check the water both hot and cold that it is turned on;at faucet.
Your Kenmore Most likely has a bad water valve check for hot water side clog or not working.

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

the inlet valves just open and close, if you have high cold water pressure, it will override the hot water. I suggest you turn down the cold water valve, until warm is kinda warm. your cold water fills will take longer, but you will have warmer water

Hot water just trickles in both of my Kenmore top loader washers

Try reversing hot for cold hoses and see what happens. That will test your valves, hot water pressure, etc. As far as I know, the valve screens are right where the hoses hook up.

Do a boil wash without clothes & detergents, with a cup of bicarbonate of soda in the soap drawer.

Won't complete cycle, stops at rinse. and can't get hot water.

Are you on well water? turn off the cold water to the washer and clean the screen filter out. do not leave filter out.
the machine probably has a cold only final rinse so it won't work properly.

Washing machine won't heat water

it sounds like the hot water supply hose on the back inlet water valve is not opening up,to check it switch the hoses, cold on hot,and hot on cold, put the washer on fill cold,if hot water comes out you know it's the water valve-mike

No - the timer is the likely suspect.

Kenmore washer series 80, Clothes still soapy

If you are getting no water spray during the rinse cycle that would cause the soapy clothes issue.

Are you getting cold water during the wash/rinse cycles? If you have the machine set to warm/warm you may only be getting hot water while the final spin is calling for cold.

If you have cold water available then the timer is not calling for the water spray. The problem is either in the mixing valve or the timer.
