I have an LG DVD drive on my PC - Super Multi DVD Writer, Model GH24NS95, serial 305HBYM260890, May 2013 manufactured. I have used up all the 'change region' options (I think there were 5 and I have 0 left) and the drive is now locked on region 1. How can I unlock the drive so that I can use it again now and in the future?

How to upgrade firmware
Only Windows support:
1. If you haven't already, download the firmware file and extract the zip
file.
2. Connect the drive to the secondary IDE channel as a master drive with
no other devices connected to that channel (Ignore if it's an SATA drive).
Start Windows and verify it can recognize the drive.
3. Close all other programs including: screen saver, and /or antivirus.
Do not open any programs or start any system functions during the
update as they can interfere with data transfer and damage the drive.
4. Open the firmware program RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR (right clock run as admin).
5. Click the update button and do not touch or interfere with the drive
while the firmware is being upgraded. IMPORTANT - DO NOT INTERFERE WITH
THE DRIVE DURING THIS PROCESS. If an error occurs during the upgrade
process, or the upgrade process is cancelled during this process, damage
to the drive can occur.
6. When the upgrade is complete the screen should say FIRMWARE UPDATE SUCCESSFUL. Re-boot your PC.

Below is the only known process to unlock the region settings on that model of dvd player.
Make sure there is no disc in it
Turn on by pressing "Power"
(--------) apears an "No Disc"
Press "Pause" on remote and "314159"
"Code" apears
Press "0"
"Code 00" apears
press "enter"
Press "Pause" on remote
Turn off and on
Hope this works for you, let me know. If it doesn't then there are no available region hacks for your dvd player.

Press the Pause button on your remote control. Using your remote control enter the code 3,1,4,1,5 and 9, At this point, a blue screen displays showing that you are in 'region altering mode'. Press the 0 button on your remote control for Region free. Press the Pause button on your remote control. Power off your player and wait a few seconds. Power on your player and your ready to go!

there is a program called region free http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm you can pay for it or just find a crack version via a torrent online. that will enable you to play any region dvds
