Audio intermittent and popping - Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-30HS510 30" TV

I am a former service technician, currently employed in the broadcast industry as a transmitter engineer. I am able to determine that the DC voltages applied to the amp IC are correct, and there is no DC offset at the speaker terminals. I'm hoping that someone has experienced this problem with this set previously and can provide a "quick fix" tip.

Hi,
Audio intermittent and popping is due to Mute signal / command that activates from system control and reason could be dry solder joints in audio amp section and CN2002 pin-5 (SP mute) and pin-8 (A mute)
Please check Q513, 515, 516, 517, 518 & 519, these are mute transistors
Thanks.

Hi,

A loud pop in the speakers is one of two things. 1. DC voltage from the amp instead of the normal AC.(If this is the case the amp is slowly burning the voice coils of the speakers.) 2. a large spike to the input of the amp. (This would be less common, but possible.) The problem is probably in the amp itself. The speakers will get spoilt if not taken care.

Thanks

Popping and cracking noise from rt side speaker

You probably have a bad solder connection or an intermittent part failure in the right audio amplifier or its source circuitry. Put in a call for warranty service.

Makes an loud clicking/popping sound

The audio outputs are intermittently shorting to their supply and allowing DC voltage to pass - the speakers will be damaged if it continues. you can confirm this by measuring (with a dc voltmeter)at the speaker outputs for DC volts.
