Question about Televison & Video

3 Answers

Hi - I have a Pioneer PDP-4270HD Plasma TV. Yesterday, the TV was performing fine and I had turned it off after watching. I came back a few hours later to turn back on, and the TV wouldn't turn on. In short, here is what has been happening: When I turn the TV power on Exclamation Point in Yellow trianle: "Plasma Display" "Starting Up. Please Wait" The TV picture and sound will appear for about 1-3 seconds (picture looks perfect) but then turns off. Once the picture turns off, the blue "On" light on the left/bottom of the monitor blinks in series of 12 blinks. Sometimes when I turn on the power, it just turns off straight away (rather than go through the "starting up process". I've tried all the different combinations of unplugging overnight, switching outlets, unplugging cable boxes, etc. This is the first issue I've had with this TV. I had shipped it as part of a long distance move about 2 months ago where it was in storage and trucked across the country over the course of a month. But, I've had it in my new place for 2 months without any issues. Thanks for any help.

Hi - the TV is less than 3 years old. I've had it since 2/07. I wouldn't think the lamp would be an issue already. The TV has not been used heavily.
    Thanks.

Can you please elaborate on "check the colorgun for colors"? The TV picture looks perfect (for the 1-3 seconds it displays before shutting off).

So the only way to do a hard reset is to unplug for 2 days? I had left unplugged overnight (last night) but was having the same issues this morning. So, if it requires 2 days, I will try that and advise.

Any other suggestions besides waiting 2 days?

    Thanks.

Ok, thanks. Will advise on Tuesday. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I still have the same issue. The TV was completely unplugged (and all cables removed) from Sunday morning until Tuesday evening. I plugged the power cord back in and turned on the main power switch on the bottom of the TV. Using the remote, I then turned on the power. The TV turned off while powering up. I then tried again, and the same thing happened. I tried for a third time, and this time I was saw the message ""Plasma Display"
"Starting Up. Please Wait", but the TV turned off again after only a few seconds. Again, I'm still seeing the series of 12 blinks as previously described.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Also - another point. I just realized my question was inadvertently posted under the "projection televisions" section. Sorry, but this TV is not a projection - it's a Plasma Flat Panel TV.

    thanks.

Thanks - in general, is this an expensive problem to have fixed? I paid $2000 for the TV and $200 for a 3-year warranty (still under 3 years in age). The issue I'm having is the company that issued the warranty is out of business (repairtech.com).

    Thanks.

Remove the back from the television and check the power supply board for any capacitors that appear the have the tops bulging upwards. If you find any, replace all of them of the same type on the board.

You have electronic circuits failure, one cause maybe the inverter circuits .to further diagnose what is the main cause of not turning on, voltages at certain point should be measured to localized which part of the system is failing, dont worry about not turning your tv on, cause the protection circuitry is working, it will inhibit the power supply to make more damages to your plasma tv.

My pioneer plasma tv in standby mode and wont turn on

Try restting it by unplugging the tv for a few mins and it should rest to original factory default settings but leave it unplugged 10-15 mins to be sure.

Swens, not positive what your issue is. But, give a company named ShopJimmy.com a try for replacement parts. I have included a link to your model page from their site. Hope that helps!

Hello,

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your Tv and look at the power supply on the left hand side.

You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed.
This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot!
Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage.
Hope this helps

Pioneer Plasma TV-PDP-4270HD won't turn on. TV

Try this! There should be a power button on the bottom of the panel that has to be depressed for the television to power on. It is the main power supply button and without it there is no power going into the TV.
