Computer will not start!

It gives me the MAC address plus lot of details including: " PXE-E51 - No DHCP or PROXY DHCP were received" and "Operating system not found" and it ends with:
DHCP: and nothing happens!

Misty here is what I would do:
1.Start the computer in safe mode.
2. update drivers. I go into Slim Driver - a free prog. and scan the system to see if ok or need updates.
3. once updated, reboot the system normally - any change? GL

No DHCP or proxt DHCP offered

If your computer is working fine then, disable PXE boot in BIOS or remove from 1st boot option. This is a LAN (network) boot option. It can't find a DHCP server, and is usually used to load an OS image.

For the most part not a real problem. More of a warning. Some corporate models use PXE to mass image.

No dhcp or proxy dhcp offered

Make sure hard drive is the 1st boot option in BIOS, and an OS on the HD of coarse.

Reply'd to other post on PXE.

Good Luck

IBM R40 PXE-MOF:exiting boot agent opreating system not found?

This appears to be an indication of a failed hard drive. During the bootup process, your computer looks for bootable (accessible) devices including your hard drive, external drives (if any) and then any other possible mediums like network attached resources. If the hard drive is not available then this would explain your situation.

Sounds like your internet settings are looking for a proxy server. Click Start/Control Panel/Internet Options. 1) When Internet Options open up make sure you have a valid webpage in on the General Tab's home page. If unsure use something like: 2) Click the Security Tab and make sure the Default is taken (Grayed out so you can't click on it) for each Zone by clicking the zone (Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted Sites and Restricted Sites) 3) Click the Privacy Tab and make sure Default is grayed out so you cannot click on it. 4) Click the Connections tab, then click LAN Settings down near the bottom of the window. When LAN Settings opens the only box that should have a check mark in it is the first box for Automatically Detect Settings (it sounds like yours might have a check mark in the Proxy Server boxes, if so remove the check mark). Click OK to close the LAN Settings window 5) Click the Advanced Tab then click the blue Down Arrow under the advanced tab so that you can scroll down to the bottom of the window. Make sure you have a check mark by SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0 & TSL 1.0 . Remove the check mark from Enable Smart Screen Filter and Run IE in Protected Mode if they have it. Click OK to close the Internet Options window. Close Internet Explorer if it is open and then click on Internet Explorer to open it. Hopefully your problem is solved.

When I have turned on my Acer Aspire 6920 computer this morning it just goes to a screen that says the following Client MAC ADDR : 00 A0 D1 A8 32 D3 Check Cable COnnection PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM...

The first bit with the MAC address is there because it's trying to boot from LAN and it is exiting because no IP address is assigned to it by the DHCP. If your laptop is connected to a network, you can use this feature to image the laptop across the network with an imaging software like Norton Ghost.

The last bit, "Operating System Not found" means that you do not have Windows or any other operating system installed on your laptop. At this point, you can either reinstall your operating system or use the recovery disc that came with the laptop to restore it back to it's factory settings.
