This is a Lens issue.

* Carefully inspect around it for dirt or debris

* If you see any dirt or debris around the lens, use canned air to gently blow it away

* After removing dirt and debris, turn the camera on and off

I do have a few ideas on things to check, however.

I can tell you that many digital cameras SAY they can accept any alkaline batteries to power them. I've found that while technically speaking, that is true, regular batteries cannot supply enough power to actually make the cameras work. (And you only get a few pictures before they are spent!) That could be giving you just enough juice to power up, but not enough to take a picture or show your screen. (I am also assuming you are inside and still not seeing the pic screen. The screens are very hard to see outside in the light.)

I would suggest that you try the Energizer "e" batteries in the silver and BLUE packaging. Those are made especially for digital/electronic devices and are very powerful. In fact, once they no longer power our digital cameras, we do not discard the batteries. They have more than enough "juice" left to power other everyday items. Our hair trimmers have been running on an old pair of the "e" batteries for two months now!

I would also double check that you have the card inserted properly. They have little metal strips on the backs of the cards, and each camera is often different in how they go in. We have three HP digital cameras - two of them require the card be inserted with the metal strips down and facing the user, but the other one needs the metal strips facing AWAY from the user.

I hope this helps you - perhaps you can post again with the brand and model number of your camera, and get a little more specific help.

Thank You

Hello, I have fuji finepix F50fd camera. It suddenly takes blurred pictures. The lens is clean and there are no messages on the screen. Can't remeber dropping it or damaging it in any way. Regards, Sofia

Welcome to FixYa.

There are three reasons why do you get a blurred images.

1. The camera lens is dirty
- clean the lens with soft and dry cloth
2. AF frame (lit red) and !AF appeared when taking pictures.
- check the focus on the subject and take pictures
3. A small camera icon appeared when taking pictures
- It may cause camera shae. Hold the camera steadily.Use flash photography. A tripod may be recommended, depending on the scene and mode.

I have a FinePix F50fd and I've lost the CD-Rom to put pictures on my Mac. What can I do?

Store all the pictures to the camera's memory card. Then remove the card from your camera and use a memory card reader to transfer all the pictures from the memory card to system.

Fuji Finepix F50FD Digital...

That doesn't sound so bad, even though it could be not the screen but the drivers which are causing the fault. I would pay $25 for your camera plus shipping and eventually customs (needs to arrive in Germany).

Fuji finepix 50fd camera has a cracked screen. Camera still works. 1/3 of the screen still works. Can I fit a new sceen? where do I get one from?

This isn't something I would attempt myself (and I'm pretty good with a soldering gun). Camera manufacturers have a policy of not selling parts, unless they are performing the install (accessories yes, parts no), because most attempts to install them result in a broken part, an even more damaged camera, and a customer service issue. Parts are only sold to authorized repair companies, where the installation will be carried out by a trained professional. Besides, isn't the liquid inside an LCD pretty toxic?

Transfer photos to laptop

Uninstall the Fuji Finepix Viewer software from your laptop. Use the Windows operating system to download and access your images through "my computer". If you are using the card slots in your laptop, the card should show up in my computer. If the card slots are not compatable with your new card, you can plug the camera into a USB slot, or use a card reader which will plug into the USB port. If you shoot at full (12 megapixel) resolution, the files may take longer to transfer than you are accustomed. Try downsizing the file size in the camera menu prior to shooting.
