Because CRT board is cold solder. resolder also mainboard.

While watching TV screen went blank. Voice stayed on

the photon charges at the back of the tv might be damaged, try to take it in to be repaired if not i suggest u buy a new one, please, please, please do not take it apart to fix it urself, alot of bad burns have happened to people who try to fix plasma tv's.

Configuration problems

Check the cable connecting the ps2 to the tv is fine,,, try to adjust while you hear the voice of the game... adjust the cable on the back of the ps2 console not the tv set.
