SOURCE: Dell Latitude CPt screen is black at startup and stays.

It sounds like your PC isn't completing its POST. (pre operating system test)

This is usually caused by faulty hardware. Your best bet is to first remove anything you have recently installed. If that doesn't apply/work, try removing various hardware devices (CD/DVD drives, memory, USB devices) until you get the machine to boot up.

If even after removing every piece of hardware possible the machine still exhibits the same behavior, it is likely a problem with the motherboard (or other "permanent" hardware).

SOURCE: Computer won't boot Windows Vista. Screen goes black with cursor arrow.

In this case you have to do the PC restore . you can do that in dell machines by shutting down the machine and when it is coming back on just HOLD DOWN THE CTRL ket and the START HITTING f11 key in this case you will lose the data which you have the on the c drive but this issue will get resolved .

Else you can try to restart in the safe mode with networking and then go to the system restore and then select the bold dates in which you have idea you system was working fine . selct the date and then do the system restore . In this case you will not lose the data but you will lose the updates which you have done after that date .

in both the cases system will work .

SOURCE: Black screen after startup

You could have a faulty inverter or a CCFL lamp, To determine if you have a LCD screen, inverter or video card problem, read this and follow these instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Java flash installation black screen

Hi Susan. I'm going to ask you to completely uninstall Adobe Flash and reinstall it as the latest version.

To Uninstall Adobe Flash Player:
  1. Download the Adobe Uninstaller below http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe
  2. Exit all browsers and apps that use Adobe Flash.
  3. Run the installer that you just downloaded.
  4. Verify Adobe was uninstalled by restarting your PC, opening your browser and going to Flash Player Help, and clicking on "Check Now".
Adobe Flash Player should now be completely uninstalled.

To Install Adobe Flash Player:
  1. Visit Adobe Install Adobe Flash Player and click "Install Now".
  2. Close all apps and browsers running Adobe Flash and run the install program.
  3. After running the install, visit Flash Player Help and click "Check Now".
  4. Your Flash version should now be displayed along with your browser and OS.
You should now be able to watch YouTube videos without any problems. I hope this information helped you solve your problem. If it did, please consider voting for this answer. It is greatly appreciated.

Hi Chloe. Sorry to tell you that the latest version of flash player will not work on your G4. You may be able to find a version of Flash on their support pages that is newer than the one you currently have but this is still not likely to solve your problem. The latest version of Flash requires a newer Intel chip MacBook rather than the old G4 chip iBook. You might get lucky (as I have done) and be able to buy a working MacBook on eBay. This will be able to run 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and you should be able to download the latest Flash. The MacBooks replaced the iBooks when Apple switched to using Intel chips - like Windows PCs. Best wishes.

Black screen on Facebook Slotomania and can't retrieve requests

Run this on the command line:

"sudo apt-get install adobe-flashplugin"

that should update it to the latest version.

Another one is
"sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer"

One of those will work.

I hope this helps :)

When typing for email, the cursor turns into a wheel and freezes screen often

Try to update the Flash Player first.... and then try the process again. If updating the flash doesn't help, update the browser itself to the most recent one.

In my opinion, latest google chrome will be helpful to you, just because, it contains the flash player inside it (you don't have to install it separately) and will update itself whenever an update of the flash player is available, so that you don't have to worry about the browser and flash player.

You can download the latest version of flash here: get.adobe.com/flashplayer

You can have the latest google chrome here: www.google.com/chrome

If none of the solutions helps you, report it by commenting over this reply.

Hope this helps, Mrityunjay

I used to be able to watch Youtube, but this week I am unable to watch Youtube. The video screen comes up black while everything else works. One channel I was able to see had RSS at the end of the address...

Probably the browser (or youtube) update has had an incompatibility. Try different browsers: newest Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer. If it still doesn't work, download and install the latest Flash Player (version 10.2) from: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. And then of course restart your browser.
