Enter 'admin' for user name and 'password' for password, these are the default login details.

If you got the router through your ISP they often set their own details and these should be on a sticker on the bottom of router.

If you bought it retail then reset the router by holding down the small button on rear for about 10 seconds, you may have to use a pencil to press it, this should revert to default details od admin and password

Using Netgear DG834 ADSL Modem, want to add a netgear WNDR3700 Wireless Router to act as an assess point

The simplest way to add more ethernet ports is to use a network hub and connect it to the Netgear DG834 instead of the Netgear WNDR3700. This does not require any configuration.

>then, connect your Netgear router to the modem

1 year old Toshiba Laptop will not connect to NETGEAR wgr614v9

1.Log into router
2. Verify wireless router name( on the computer) >>> ( on/off)
3.Note router name you are connecting to.
4.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP addresses.
5. Set the laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address.
6.Note router name you are connecting to.
7. Move the laptop about 20ft away and try to log on to the internet.
This is for all routers to set up wirelessly.

The dsl light keeps flashing green or yellow on my netgear dg834 v5 router n i cant get on internet but it works with my netgear dg834 dg834 v2

The fact that it works ok with the dg834 v2 means you have a DSL enabled line and also connection to the internet
You also have all the configuration details within the V2 Router - you will need to know your ISP account password
Now on the V5 router - do a factory reset - theres a small hole at the back of the router 1. Press and hold the Default Reset button until the Test LED turns on (about 10 seconds). 2. Release the Default Reset button and wait for the router to reboot.

Router and Aol server not conected.

With AOL make sure you have set these values in the Netgear
    ADSL settings as PPPOa
    VC 0,38
    MTU setting to 1400

    If you still have problems

Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> select AOL Connectivity
click Add/Remove -> use the repair option

    Follow instructions to repair.

Once complete make sure modem is configured and switched on and
    try restarting AOL.

It will search for your connection, find it and allow you to log on.
Configuratin instructions can be found here

Can only connect 1 computer to 'net on router

rourke, you shouldn't be entering the same settings on both router and desktop. I should only be on the router. It seems like something with DHCP is misconfigured on your router. Make sure it (DHCP) is enabled.

    DG834 and DHCP

Both your pc and your router should be set to obtain IP addresses automatically in the DHCP settingss, if you are using the wizard on the cd this should do it for you. Try not to use windows repair connection as it sets it to the wrong ip address, as your system has to match the routers, eg router address and your pc addresss
