Dear

In case that you clean the virus that is infected in your w580i and at the same time to remove it from the infected PC you have to do the following steps:

1- Go to this website: http://www.precisesecurity.com/tools-resources/adware-tools/flash-disinfector/

You have to scroll down and click on the "Flash Disinfector" under Download Here, and save it to the desktop.

2- You have to disable your AVG Antivirus, then connect the wire of W580i to your computer.

3- Keep the W580i connected and go to the Flash Disinfector on your desktop and double click it. (Be patient, the screen will disappear for 10 seconds, then everything will get back to the normal)

4- By doing such step of Flash disinfector, then your Drive G: or F: or whatever it is named for your W580i will be disinfected.

5- Right-click on Internet explorer and hit "Run as Administrator" , if there's a password please write it.

6- Go to this link : http://www.bitdefender.com/scanner/online/free.html

It will work for the following O.S:

Operating System: Windows 2000/XP/Vista

6- a) keep following instruction, i.e: Start Scanner, and "Install ActiveX Control that comes from the taskbar" and let it update.

7- In case bitdefender fails to update/work in your pc, You are highly recommended to use another scanner online that I will give you on the sub-section of this point

7- a) http://onecare.live.com/site/en-US/default.htm

When the scan is done, it will automatically detect all viruses and will ask you to Hit on "Fix Here"

8- Note: During your scanning time, please do NOT plug-off the Sony Ericsson W580i

:) Cheers

I guess it's very clear that his problem is that his drive is infected with the autorun.inf , means even if you provide him a virus removal software it won't let him access the folders. Disinfection is a must. I think you both have to try my solution and to read it well before confusing this gentlemen

Insert your USB drive in the appropriate USB slot in your computer. If the Autoplay dialog box appears, select "Take No Action" and click the "OK" button. Launch your anti-virus program, such as AVG Antivirus or Anti Malware. Select the USB drive for the program to scan. Click the "Start Scan" button or option. Open the scan history for the USB drive when the scan is complete to see a list of viruses and warnings identified by the antivirus software. If desired, select the options to "Heal All Infected Files" or "Move the Infected Files to the Virus Vault" to ensure these files are quarantined from your system. Highlight each infected file in the scan history. Write down the file name of each infected file identified on the USB drive. Minimize the application's window. Select "Run" from the Windows "Start" menu. In the Run window, type "e:/" at the command prompt to switch to your USB drive (or type the drive letter for your USB drive). Press the Enter key. Type "attrib -s -h -r -a *.*" at the command prompt to remove the system, hidden, read-only and archive file attributes. Press the Enter key. Type "del ####.+++" where "####" is the file name of the infected file and "+++" is the file extension, at the command prompt line. Press the Enter key. For example, "del terriblevirus.exe" will specifically delete the Terrible Virus executable file. Repeat for each infected file on your list identified in Step 4. Close the command prompt window; that is, exit the Run utility. Maximize the window for your anti-virus program (which is still open) and repeat Steps 2 to 7 until no virus is detected on your USB drive. Exit the anti-virus application.

You have a virus on your PC. Unfortunately, once you have this virus, it usually does not help updating your anti virus and running a scan since the virus is running in the memory of the PC and every infected file the anti virus removes - the virus just puts back again. Try one of two things to remove the virus:

1] First update your anti virus (if you dont have an anti virus, download the free AVG Antivirus and install that and then update it. Click here to go to AVG's website. Once installed - Boot your pc into SAFE MODE. This is VERY important otherwise the virus will load into memory and it wont help running the anti virus to clean the system as the memory resident virus will just replace any infected file that is removed by the scan. To boot your PC into safe mode: Read this article: Click here.

Once you are in safe mode - Open the Anti-virus console and do a complete system scan.

2] Remove the infected hard drive from your PC and install it as a secondary drive in a clean, VIRUS PROTECTED PC!!! ... i.e .. any pc that has the latest anti-virus system installed and is up to date!. Once you have installed the infected drive in the protected PC as a secondary drive, run a scan on the infected drive and remove the virus.

Once you have removed the virus, also scan ANY USB devices on that PC, including any Cameras, cellphones, photo frames, etc that you might have plugged into the infected PC.

Good luck

I have something constantly poping up telling me I have a virus. It says it is Smart Engine Professional assistant for Windows PC. I don't see it in my list of programs, so I can't delete it, and I can't...

I suggest you install an anti-virus program, any viruses that infects a computer can damage your computer and programs, depending upon the type of infection.
The sooner you remove the virus the better.
There are commercial anti-virus programs available such as mcAfee and Nortons.
There are also freeware anti-virus programs, I recommend AVG.

How can i get product key for norton 2010

If you really want to protect your PC you will have to find a better security program than Norton. I have removed so many infections from friends and families computers who were using Norton Anti-virus, and I really do have to wonder if that program even works at all.

AVG is a far better program, and even the free edition of AVG will do a far better job of protecting your PC than Norton ever will, and the free edition of AVG will actually keep infections out of your PC unlike the paid version of Norton, and everyone that I have set up with AVG has really been satisfied with how it performs, and I use it myself because I have not found any program that does the job better.

You might also want to install an anti-mal-ware program as well, and mal-ware is different from viruses and other infections, and your anti-virus program will not detect mal-ware, and the best program that I have found for that is Malwarebytes, and even the free edition of that program will work very well and it will do what it claims to do, get rid of mal-ware on your PC and Malwarebytes does that job very well.

Here are the links if you would like to try them out, and they will certainly purge the infections and mal-ware from your PC, and they are free programs so you really have nothing to loose, but you will have a lot to gain in PC security. If it were my PC, or someones infected PC that I was working on, I would delete Norton from the PC and I would install the AVG and the Malwarebytes.

If installing these programs pay attention to the installation because you have the option not to install any toolbars into your browser that you do not want or need, like a google or yahoo toolbar, and if you do not want them or need them then just un-check the boxes when they come up on the installation screen and it is not difficult to do at all.

Everytime I try to login to myspace, I get a popup covering my page. How do I get rid of the popups?

Sounds like you may have some sort of Malware infection on your computer.

  1. Download a program called "MalwareBytes Anti-Malware"
  2. Install and run a scan with the program, remove any found infections
This will remove most malware/adware on your computer. As a precautionary measure I would also recommend running a virus scan. If you do not have an anti-virus software on your computer, I would recommend any of the following (they are all free and effective) :

If the problem still persists after both an anti-malware and anti-virus scan I would recommend taking it to a local computer repair shop for further examination. Persistent and random pop-up ad's are the first sign of a virus/malware infection. You don't want to wait till it's too late!

Antivirus

Antivirus is basically a protection against viruses....

Basically it protects your pc from worms, trojans and viruses...

A computer worm is a self-replicating computer program. It uses a network to send copies of itself to other nodes (computerterminals on the network) and it may do so without any userintervention.

A Trojan horse, also known as a trojan, is a piece of malware which appears to perform a certain action but in fact performs many different forms of codes.

A computer virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer without permission or knowledge of the user.
