Unknown weather it used to beep when turned on. When I got the computer I had to install ram, hard drive, keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

Yes when I remove the ram it does beep in protest.

I don't believe that power is the problem. I can remove all of the cards and try to start it with just the bare minimum and I still have the same problem. No change,

    Thanks for your thoughts

    Tom

Motherboard fried, this is a socket 478 intel based system with older style ddr meory and socket 478 pin cpu. I suggest the processor socket is what is causing your problem. Have a look at my website on the "emachine support page" as the symptoms your describe are the same as the emachine, advent and medion problems where the motherboard fails. My website is http://www.motherboardsrus.co.uk look for the page towards the botom of the home page entitled "emachinesupportpages" and click the link. scroll down to the section that says " Possible symptoms Pre-full failure.

Before this problem, did the computer "beep" once everytime that you started it? If it no longer "beeps", something is wrong.

Remove _ALL_ the RAM, and start it. It _should_ "beep", to complain about not finding any RAM. If it does not, then something is wrong.

It is possible that your computer is not getting enough electricity. You need to check the power supplier, make sure the computer is not getting too hot.

See if power supply fan is running. If not....the power supply is bad. Also...see if there are any lights lit on the Motherboard. If not....the power supply is bad. You can pick one up on ebay pretty reasonable. Hope this helps.

Green light on my power supply stays lit after unplugging

Usually the light will time out after the capacitor has drained. Your machine is getting a bit old , your PSU may be the problem. If you plug it in and push the on/off button and it blinks, fans spin and shuts down, it's most likely the PSU. Look for a in-line fuse on the Motherboard, if blown, replace. Look at the motherboard closely for damaged components, capacitors, etc.

Samsung TV won't turn on. Red light is solid, won't blink when pressed. All capacitors seem fine (none swollen or vented).

That model is covered under a class actions lawsuit settlement over bad power supply boards. You need to contact Samsung about this and get a warranty claim started, even if the original warranty is over the settlement terms will cover parts and labor. You can get additional information about this along with contact information here: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/samsung-has-reached-a-settlement-in-class-action-lawsuit-over-faulty-tv-power-supplies/

My dell optiplex light is solid yellow

That usually means the switch on the power supply has been moved to 220v vs 110v. The switch is located just above where the power cord plugs in.
