I have a sunjoy 12k btu table top patio heater. It is made to use the disposable propane canisters or the larger refillabe bottles via a hose. When I use the disposable bottles all is well. When I connect the big tank, I can get the burner lit, but very low output. Doesn't even turn the screen red. Is there an adjustment on the regulator or something. If so please tell me where. Thank you

Thanks for the suggestion. Although I am not sure that I understand how the hose will equalize. Doesn't it have a check pin/valve on each end?? Any way I will try it tomorrow when I get home. Thank You for your time.

Thanks again. I followed your directions, but I didnt see any improvement. I tested the tank on other appliances and have switched out the hose as well. Both work well in other applications. I was hoping that the regulator had an adjustment, I know that the in-line ones for barbeques, etc. do. I cannot find one on the heater.

There must be a blockage in the hose and regulator or your large tank may be checking and not allowing the unit to stay lit. Remove the large bottle. Let the gas line equalize for about 30 seconds and then reattach the bottle. Very slowly, open the knob on the large tank and I mean very slowly. Did I say open it slowly. The new OPD propane tanks often have a very touchie excess control valve that won't allow enough gas through if opened too rapidly. Now tray and light the heater. If you still experience the same, get a technician involved so they can inspect the gas pressure.

The hose will equilize over time if disconnected from the bottle.

What was the cause?

The only other thing that comes to mind is that the regulator gas pressure is incorrect. If there is no removable knob on the circular portion of the regulator, it is not adjustable. Check the markings on the regulator and compare them with the Patio heater to see if they are the same pressure. Maybe the patio unit runs at a higher pressure than the gas regulator is allowing. Sorry if I am no help to you.
