Is there any way to adjust the size of the picture, the ARC feature on the remote does not change this in either of the settings 16x9 or Horizon.... And the TV display is "NOT set to Zoom1 or Zoom 2", I need to adjust the horizontal size of the picture. Recently the picture on my 60" pioneer elite plasma is not sized correctly from the Tome Warner cable feed. The picture size is set to "auto" and always gave a correct picture. But now, even on the HD channels, the picture on the screen is a little too gib. Heads are choped off at the forehead, and words are chopped off the bottom.
Using the manual setting for screen size does not solve the problem -- cycling through all the setting for anything coming off the cable does not give a properly sized picture.
Signals from DVD are no problem, only the cable feed.
I suspect Time Warner is sending something screwy now that the great switch to digital has passed. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I'm about ready to yank the cable out because I'm tired of watching people with their foreheads chopped off.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Full screen resolution depends on the source signal that you feed to your LCD TV.
Most often, the signal come in 16:9 screen size, which sometimes show big black portion on both top and bottom of screen. To maximizes screen display, you can adjust the screen size of your LCD TV through remote control, this features are available in most LCD TV. you will have the option to choose Full Screen Mode, 16:9 screen resolution or many others to choose from (most case about 3 to 4 screen size.
Zenith sets, like most others now, are adjusted electronically through a service menu. You'll need your original remote control (or a Zenith-brand universal replacement with a MENU key) to access the menu. Press and hold the MENU button until the channel number and time display goes away, then press 9, 8 , 7, 6, ENTER. This puts you into service mode.
In service mode, CHANNEL UP and CHANNEL DOWN move through the different settings, and VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN change the values. Make sure you write down the original value of anything before you change it so you can put it back if necessary. One of the reasons the manufacturers hide the service menu is because the set can be damaged by incorrect settings to some of the parameters.
On some models, you can't get to all the parameters unless you change
one called F MODE from 00 to 01. You might need to do this on yours.
The list of parameters varies by model and features. I haven't worked on a Zenith in a long time so I don't remember exactly what yours says, but you want to find two settings for V SIZE (vertical size) and V POS (vertical position). Adjust the size first by lowering the value until the top and bottom of the screen are black. Then adjust the position so the picture is centered (black strips close to equal size). Finally, increase the size until the picture fills the screen again. It's normal to adjust for a little overscan, meaning you push the top and bottom a little bit out of view. If you stop too soon, on some channels you might see flashing lines at the top of the picture.
When you're finished adjusting, turn the TV off to exit service mode. If you needed to change the F MODE setting, put it back to 00 first. Your picture should be properly sized after all this.
The wide button on your remote adjusts the picture size. Each time you press it you adjust the picture. If repeatedly pressing the wide button is not changing the picture size check you cable/satellite remote control. Look for the hdzoom# button. There may also be an aspect or format button. When you adjust this the picture size changes and between the Sony remote and the cable/satellite remote you should be able to come to a happy medium. If the picture size still isn't changing you might not be set to the correct resolution i.e. 1080i on your cable/satellite box. It might be set too low or you might be in the wrong input (av 1 av 2 hdmi 1 hdmi 2) etc.
It appears that on this television you can only adjust the picture size when you are using the twin picture feature. You must adjust the picture size with your other remote control. Since I do not know whether you are connected to a cable box or a satellite tv box or a blu ray player or a DVD player I cannot be very specific. On your other remote control you should had an hd zoom button, aspect, format, ratio, #, or etc. Those buttons change the picture size. The other factor determining picture size is the resolution the equipment connected to your tv is set to. This tv supports 1080i but you should also try setting the connected equipment to 720p or 480p or 480i. Also the connected equipment may be connected to your tv in two places so make sure you are on the correct selection using the tv video button on the Sony remote.
seems to me as a Sony TV. The sony tv has this feature ready in the menu. you can do zoom out ,standard etc,
But the real problem comes when the tv is turn off and then you get back to turn on the tv (lets say next day)and you find the same big heads.
what you have to do is going to the menu same thing but this time look for an option is called picture size default. This option make learn the memory what size you want custom when tv is turn on.This function is in the same page as the picture size page (refer to the user's manual) but has to be the default mode where you want the change.
The problem with sizes now days is some shows fit perfect some others not. and besides that the cable box has those features too(change size of the screen)
What i do in this sony tv to start first is keeping it in the standard size in the tv menu and i defaulted too.
when some size adjustment is needed i do it in the cable box remote control .Once again this example i do it in SONY tv, Maybe you have to post the problem again if the tv is different brand.
Normallly, if the picture size button on the remote for the television does not achieve the desired affect, then, a cable box or a satelite box is where the change needs to be made. For example: A MotorolaCable box needs to be set up to go to a wide screen or zoom when an analog signal is detected. Some DishNetwork boxes have Size buttons on their remotes and also in their main menu. It's difficult to determine the repair without knowing the types of the peripherals. Hope this helps.
