Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

BIOS won't recognise SATA hdd.BIOS is Pheonix-Award BIOS v6. 00PG. Do you think I need to update the BIOS?

Hi, according to your mobo manual it supports SATA1/SATA2 hard drives so it's recommended to update BIOS, the latest I found it has release date 2006-06-29, you can find it in the folllowing link: Support For K8MM MSI Global

HP Boot problem

a1540n PC Desktop fails to boot unstated OS....
a very obsolete PC, in fact HP retired, support.
no problem really but makes getting books on it harder... facts...

  1. so did you make sure all fans work? and stay on,
  2. does the DVD drive eject button work
  3. does the keyboard caps/num/scroll locks LED toggle, when pressed
  4. does BIOS work with 1 DDR2 RAM stick (1 by 1) not 2 at once
  5. do the fans all work , up to 3?
  6. Does the F1 key work, hit fast at power on button, in 1-3seconds? immediatay after power on.
  7. did the screen show Hit F1 to enter HP setup? if yes did you?
  8. any PCI expanisin cars in the PCI slots, remove them?
  9. remove DVD and HDD cables, see if BIOS works.
  10. CPU fan Heat sink fins not packed in lent, as all are, clean it with Can-o-air?
  11. test the PSU? (ask)
The goal is BIOS screens, first. first things are first.

carbon dating retired PCs (hp zero support now)
is not easy. and is key to learning what BIOS is there (a pain)
the date you bought this PC is not important , the date it was made maters only....
standing here, i cant do that, id need to do hands on inspection
old AMD Athlon 64 X2

says ,,,,DDR2 SDRAM 2x1g it says, remove one?
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE TurboCache supporting 256MB
integrated, VGA.... no card. if it has a card for VGA remove it to test system using integrated VGA jack on MOBO
best i can tell, 99% off all review on pc have TIME STAMP(DATE)
but one review said it had norton 2006
so we know that one is 2006 and is over 10years old.
maybe 12 years old.. the dvd drive has date code, there in clear english, dates, if it says 2005 , there it is. other HP codes
in the PC also date the PC.

i looked up your ASUS mobo and they says its
The current bios is 3.07 phoenix-award bios.
Even ASUS dont have data on A8m2n mobos. now.

huge list of keys on PHoenix bios.
my guess is F1 or F10 is the BIOS hot key
remember HP ordered Phoenix bios under contract and HP
can in fact dictate hot keys... so HP wins here.
find the answer to this is hard. (no HP books)

hint 1: the coin cell battery can be dead, replace it on the mobo
life spans 3 -5years possible most makers top life is 7.

the goal is here, if this works we test the HDD next.
see?
its just 2 goals, BIOS, below
then getting the HDD working and last the unstated OS working.

Foxconn 945G7MA-8EKRS2 Motherboard will not post with pentium d cpu ,i have even updated with the lates bios flash,

Good day,
According to Intel 945G chipset supports Celeron D up to Core2Duo. Intel Gigabyte's 945 DS3 even supports up to Core2Quad. GByte Foxconn has 3 mobo bios from there site. Foxconn
According to their date: Latest to oldest
4BFF1P56 No Version 4BFF1P40
Have you tried installing the no version bios? In my experience some latest bios have some problems with other devices so try to use the no version bios. or try a different mobo bios with the same chipset from Foxconn. below are two foxconn mobo models i can't see the difference.
945G7MA-8EKRS2 945G7MA-8EKRS2H
Update at your own risk..
hope this helps, thanks for posting.

Bios date and time problem

You need to replace the cmos battery in your computer. Theu are usually Cr2032 batteries which you should be able to pick up for about £1.

unplug your computer and open the case.
When you look at the motherboard you should be able to easily locate the cmos battery cliped onto the mobo.
Take the old battery out and insert the new one.
put the case back on and plug the pc into the mains again.
You will need to re-enter the date etc the next time you boot up, but the settings should be retained after that.

Loss of calendar & clock when no power

ok the only way to check if the battery is working on your mobo is to look in the bios, im not sure if you are good at looking into bios,or you may be wanting to get someone to look at it for you,it does have a internal clockin bios that can be adjusted to the proper time/date.If it is not holding the time correctly(usually found by checking bios after reboot) then your battery on the mobo needs to be replaced, and can be reasonable cheap. HOWEVER, chances are it might be in the O.S. and if this is true can be changed (RIGHTCLICK ON TIME IN THE TOOLBAR--ADJUST TIME/DATE),,,,,, but if this doesn't hold your time/date after another boot up then there is a bigger problem i.e. software issue. Sometimes illegal downloaded software containes a patch that fools software into thinking that its too early to try and oudate(renew) or search for updates that wont make a program work any longer. Good luck JLS

P4i65G - brand new want start.

Try getting a slower cpu, I have a 3.0Ghz P4 with 512mb of ram and it works great, I emailed them about upgrading ram and they said: "Upgrading the memory would not affect the Video card, unless the memory is not compatible with the motherboard, then the computer might not turn on at all."
