I lost the bottom half of the picture

I have a dx-lcd32-09 that i have had only about two months and it just lost the lower half of the picture... What was the resolution to losing the bottom half of your screen? I'm having the same issues, I'm wondering if it's the panel or electronics...? Any ideas?

This unit needs to be returned to the dealer for replacement. Your television has had a component in the video output circuits have failed causing a loss of picture. You can go to the Dynex website: (http://www.dynexproducts.com/pc-680-23-dynex-32-720p-flat-panel-lcd-hdtv-matte-black.aspx) and use the customer support e-mail to contact the customer service. You can also call customer support at this telephone number. 1-800-305-2204 between the hours of 7am and 12 am CST. Give them the model number of your television and the problem you are having with the loss of video output. They will be able to help you either get a replacement of a repair of your television.I hope this information helps you with your problem.

Flat Screen LCD TV has picture on top half, black on bottom.

You turn on your beautiful LCD flat screen and when it boots up it has a picture on the top but nothing but black on the bottom. What is wrong?

Since the top half of the picture is working we know that the circuits which drive the signal and display are OK. They are the same for the top and bottom.

The difference is there are two YSUS drivers for the unit. One on the top and one on the bottom. They are referred to as the Upper and Lower YSUS drivers. They provide the signal to the display. You have lost the one on the bottom.

Unplug the unit and lay it on a flat padded surface. Remove the rear cover by taking out all the screws around the perimeter. Some screws in the center of the back may have to be removed. They should be obvious.

Once the back is off look on the left side of the unit. There should be separate boards (split top and bottom) which are the YSUS drivers, top and bottom. The boards are only about 1 to 1 and 1/2 inches wide and occupy 1/2 of the space from top to bottom.

You may have to remove the YSUS board, and maybe even a support beam to get the driver board out because the Upper and Lower YSUS boards are usually located under the main YSUS sustain board.

If you go to http://www.encompass.com and input the model number all the parts will be listed. There may also be a service manual available for downloading and you can scroll through the parts to find the Upper YSUS board. In addition the board should have the part number on it.

For Panasonic it generally begins with TNP-XXXXX. Your other option would be to look for the part called "YSUS lower driver" . Order this part and install it and you should have a working set.

I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r6981868-replace_circuit_board_in_modern_tvs which explains the proper procedure to remove and replace a modern electronic circuit board.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating. Please consider a testimonial. Thank you.

Tv won't come one and blinks red 7 times then stops.

When the bottom half of the picture goes out this usually indicates a failure of the lower Y driver module. When this module fails it will often take out the Y sustain module and when that happens the set goes into over current shut down. Both boards will have to be replaced. All of this is assuming you have a Plasma set and not a LCD flat panel.

Phillips 42 inch Plasma -Screen Issues!!!

intermittent loss of picture on either bottom or top half of screen is specific to y buffer boards located on left side of screen going from top to bottom when looking at back of tv. the y lower buffer would be the board to replace to resolve the loss of bottom half of picture. if the top half also is going out intermittently could tied to upper buffer as well but just a note the y main board to right of these buffers drives those two boards so in some cases could also be part of the problem. if only bottom half is affected i would recommend replacing lower buffer only

If the loss of picture is either on top half or bottom half of screen. there are y buffer boards that go from top to bottom on left side of screen when looking at back that control those sections. when there is loss of half of picture then buffer associated with that area would be at fault and would need to be replaced. when i see a degrading symptom such as loss of picture on top half or bottom half leading to no picture issue normally you would check heat syncs on y sustain board and if not heating up after a few minutes of being turned on would recommend replacing y main and both y upper and lower y buffer boards as they complete a circuit

I just had my lower Y-buffer board swapped out to fix a problem similar to yours. After an hour and a half of on-time, the lower half of the screen would flicker on and off with the same appearance you mentioned. Changing out this particular board fixed it for me. However, since it has gone from top to bottom on your set, it may be more of a main board problem for you (that controls both upper and lower halves). Beyond this, I don't know any more. I am considering getting a service manual to gain more knowledge about the various PCBs in the unit so I can fix any future problems myself.
