Question about HP w1907 LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Screen comes on briefly then blanks out.

I have an HP w1907 LCD Monitor. Yesterday the monitor just went blank. When I turn off the monitor, and turn it back on, the desk top shows up for a few seconds and then blanks out again. When I test the "sleep" button, the "monitor is going to sleep" window appears and then disappers. Therefore, commands like this are visible, but the desk top is not. When I reboot my computer (HP), the monitor will come back up for a few seconds, but it then blanks out. The sleep function is off, all connections have been checked and double checked, I've removed the monitor from power and then re-connectetd, no chages were made to the monitor settings, but the monitor still only shows up briefly and then blanks out. As stared earlier, this just started out of the blue. Any ideas? I have the same problem, goes blank after a couple seconds, says its going to sleep, then sometimes I can get it to come back for a second by switching it off then on but it blanks right out again, and it does it on more than one computer so I know its the monitor..any suggestions for fixing it?

Check inverter, memory, and powersupply.

Same exact situation here. Monitor is HP2159m about 18 months old.
Unfortunatly I'm afraid Rommel Dadula is probably right in suspecting hardware issues.

My monitor occasionally blacks out. I turn just the monitor on -- wait a few minutes then it works ok for a while until it blacks out again

There are controls that turn off the monitor, both in Windows control panel and the monitor itself. The system should know if activity is happening, and should not blank if active.
Look at screen savers, too.

Monitor will come on, monitor status box will come on and then screen goes blank. How can I fix this?

rwhite97, If your pc is working fine with substitute monitor, and w1907 lcd unit does same (black screen, or blanknblack screen) when connected to a "known good" pc, then you should visit and read some stuff at this 2005 blog. http://www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solution/ Then learn the flashlight test and what it means. Then go to YOUTUBE for video clips on lcd monitor disassembly and lcd monitor repair if you are into do-it-yourself repair. Remember this!!! Your w1907 unit uses the same basic design and operation principles that ALL brands of ccfl back-lit lcd monitors use. Good luck with the repair. Come back here and leave comment after doing your research/investigation and then rate this response. 12fixlouie

Blank HP w1907

If the power light does not turn color and stay's green on startup, it is not a power problem. It is most likely the inverter. If the unit is in warranty, send it out ASAP. Contact HP customer care by email and have the issue logged in.
If in warranty, they will send you a box by FedX second day and have repaired.
This is a 19" monitor and will not be worth paying for repairs if not in warranty.

I turn my monitor on and it lights up then goes blank.

sounds like you have a backlight problem, the wires are known to burn off the ends of the bulbs of the back light..if you try to repair it yourself be careful the lcd screen and bulbs are frigile.. there is 4 bulbs two on the top and two on the bottom of the screen ,, keep every thing in order when taking apart

The W1907 goes blank when i turned the monitor off and then on

I would say don't turn off the monitor at the switch at all unless you are not going to use it for a long time. I just leave mine switched on and the power save blanks the screen if I am away from it for 20 minutes. I leave my PC switched on all the time as well. If I need to use it for any reason it takes ages for it to start up fully so it's more convenient to just leave it all going so it's ready when I need it. If away from the PC for a day or more switch it off but I keep going back to it all day and night so it's easier for me to leave both on all the time.
