Also to the people who said the R4 can't read higher than etc.
The R4 Pro or R4SDHC can read Micro SD cards in SDHC format Regardless. So yes it should work with the correct firmware. And I meant firmware before not drivers. Sorry

Have you got the R4 Pro drivers instead of the normal R4 drivers? That will stuff it up if you have the normal.

I have just bought a r4 SDHC for my sons ds and it just brings up the red menu? sign in the top screen

There are several different versions of software for the R4 cards. If your R4 card has 'R4i Upgrade' and 'V1.4' in a yellow star on the front or just 'R4 Upgrade' then download this software -
If your R4 has 'R4i Upgrade' without the 'V1.4' yellow star then download this software -
If you do not already have 'WinRar' installed then download and install it here -
When you click the correct link above choose 'save' and save the file on your computer. When it has downloaded insert your R4's SD micro card into the USB adapter put it into your PC. Go to 'My Computer' and look for the SD card drive, probably called 'Removable Disk'. right click the drive and select 'Format'. Check the box to allow a quick format and wait for it to complete. After open the drive by double clicking it to display an empty window and then minimize it to the taskbar with the '-' command in the top right of the window. Next go to the location where you downloaded the software above, usually 'My Documents' or the 'Desktop' by default. Right click the file and select 'Extract Files...'. Click the SD drive you just formatted, i.e 'Removable Disk (E:)' to highlight it in blue and then click, 'OK'.
You may now copy your .nds game files to the SD card or insert it into your R4 cartridge and your DS.

I've a new dsi with 1.3e firmare. The r4i sdhc doesn't work (the site printed on the card is I've tried a lot of firmware but the message shoed is "? menu"... Please help me....

Hello, looks really really suspicious. Two of the main R4 manufacturers are and If you bought a card made from them it should show a black loading screen error, not a red menu. You might have a gotten a bad clone.

If you're looking to get genuine cards for your ds like the R4 SDHC (there are fakes out there), take a look here, I managed to find this site after I got burned at a few others. Loved having my emails responded to because I had loads of questions, and they were quick to ship it. US based support and shipping I believe.

Best of luck!

STUCK ON LOADING SCREEN - HELP!!! Bought a 2 x R4 SDHC card + Kingston 8gb sdhc. Have tried so many firmwares including the latest from (which is on R4 box that I got) and still stuck on loading...

How did you go solving the problem. I had a similar problem when a friend of mine gave me a cdrom version of the software that fixed the problem up straight away. The only problem is it is about 80meg in size. If you know a way of me sending it to you I am more than happy to do so.

If your DS doesn't freeze without it then it has to be something wrong with the firmware (the updates you just installed on it)

Try this.. Uninstall those games, and leave only 1 on there. Let us know what happens..

If it works, then slowly load it one by one.. One of those games could have caused a malfunction.

My Ds lite is still loading

Hello there,

This looks typically like you have a problem with the wrong version of firmware being installed. Try going to this website to determine whether you have the R4v2, R4 SDHC, R4v3 or a different version. You should have download links for all three of the main types of R4 cards from the link below. E-mail them if you still need help!

If you are looking for a reliable place to buy DS and DSi cards from that will stock originals, I'd recommend using (I've used them myself). They test every card before sending which means you won't receive dud cards, and more importantly they have support before AND after your purchase by people who reply very quickly and in perfect English. Some of these dodgy websites take 4-6 weeks to deliver and never answer e-mails, so I'm glad these guys are different. Oh, and they guarantee to dispatch by the next working day, which always helps with speed and all. And they're recommended by a lot of the DS card help sites, too.

Good luck!

I'm not sure what you're doing wrong. The only things I can recommend is plugging in the little memory card from the r4 sdhc into the computer and deleting everything BUT the games folder. Move the games folder to your desktop with Cut+Paste. Once you've deleted everything from your r4 SDHC folder (Moonshell, etc.), download the newest software for the r4 sdhc from this site: and choose for the download address English Kernel. Once it's downloaded, extract the files from the .zip by right clicking it and selecting extract *to do this you require WinRAR, which is free you and you can download by typing 'WinRAR on google. It depends on the company that made your laptop/computer, it might be already installed.* Copy all of the files into your r4 SDHC memory card and also the games file that I told you to put on your desktop earlier. Now, take the memory card out of your computer, turn on your ds, and voila, it should be working. If not, then it's a problem with the games themselves you've downloaded. Make sure that in any site you visit to download NDS rom games, in the title or somewhere it says US or USA and not K or J or EUR or something like that so that it's in English.
-Hope that little wall of text helped! ;)
