Powerspec b820. How do I add a new HDD

>Power down, and unplug the computer.
>Remove the Left cover (when facing the front); there are 2 thumb screws top & bottom on the rear. They go through the black edge of the cover and thread into the case. The side cover pops off.
>Locate the hard drive, unplug the two SATA cables (power and data) from the hard drive; leave them plugged into the motherboard.(see picture)
>There are two screws that hold the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) in the bay; remove them. There may be two on the other side (sometimes not). If so, you will have to remove the other side cover in order to access them for removal.
>The HDD will slide out the rear of the bay.
>Slide in the new one, reset the screws, replace the cables, and put the side cover(s) back on.
You're done and ready to format and install your operating system.

Give this a try....

-> Is there power to the hard drive? -> Is there a pop up stating that new hardware is found, but cannot open the hard drive?
Lets try something: Ok, there are a few steps that I need you to do...
with your Hard drive plugged into the computer, goto:
-> DESKTOP (front page of the computer)
-> right click on MY COMPUTER
-> left click on MAP NETWORK DRIVE
-> left click on the DRIVE Z:
-> now that this is open, look for an open drive (ex:O,P,Q - do not pick A,C or Z drive), so we won't wreck another drive when creating a spot for your Hard drive and remember the open drive letter, and close off this page.

Now that you have the drive letter:
-> Right click on MY COMPUTER
-> left click on MANAGE
-> look for DISK MANAGEMENT and left click on it
-> you should see Volume for SYSTEM and UNKNOWN or REMOVABLE
-> right click on unknown/removable and assign/change to the drive letter from the previous task
-> press ok to save

How do you download pictures onto the dane-elec flash drive, this is for school and i need it fast i have tried but then my laptop froze and i couldnt get it on the other computer thank-you

Hi

Restart your computer > My computer > connect the USB Drive > right click on the USB drive's icon that will appear > right click on the USB Drive icon > explore > create a new folder called Transferred Photos > double click to open the new folder >minimize the My Computer window > open the folder where your photos are stored > edit > select all > right click on the highlighted photos > copy > maximize My Computer > right click and paste photos into Tranfrerred Photos folder > close all windows > left click on USB icon bottom right near the clock > left click Safely Remove (remember to always do this before disconnecting the USB Drive in future > remove USB Drive.

If there is any difficulty, check size of photos folder and check if there is enough free space on the USB drive for all the photos.

In my computer, also right click and scan (Quick Scan) USB Drive to check for any data corruption or infection on it.

Hope this helps.

Where is the location & how to remove the hard drive for toshiba satelite P15-S470

Hi,

The hard drive is located under the CD/DVD drive. Before you start taking apart the laptop, remove the battery and unplug the AC power.

1. You have to remove the CD/DVD drive. Turn the laptop over. Remove one screw right above the dive and slide the drive out of the laptop.
2. When the CD/DVD drive is removed, you'll see a metal plate. The metal plate is secured by 4 screws. Remove them and lift up the plate from the bay. The hard drive is located right under the plate.
3. After you remove the plate, you'll see the hard drive. The hard drive also secured by 4 screws. Remove the screws, slide the hard dire to disconnect it from the connector on the moterboard and lift it up.
4. You have to transfer the brackets from the old hard drive to a new hard drive. Also, if there is a foil shielding around the old hard drive, you'll have to transfer it to a new hard drive too.

Below is website with a picture guide on how to remove the hard drive>>>>

I bought a new WD Elements 350gb external hard drive and it came with a Memeo software CD. It says to insert CD before starting backup. I do not appear to be able to use this external hard drive as a plug...

This software is not linked with the drive (with this particular drive you only get a trial version anyway). Just remove the software from your PC.

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Remove Memeo/ WD Anywhere Backup.

Once you have done that, you can delete everything on it (assuming you never manually put something on it apart from the backup). If so, back it up onto your PC, another drive or CD.

How do I completely remove the WD Sync software so I can use my 500GB WD external hard drive for manual copy-and-paste

Assuming you are using XP, Vista, or 2000 you can format it as a NTFS drive. while a lt of folks do not like Vista, this is one area where it really shines.

Plug in your WD PASSPORT.

Bring up the START menu -> right click COMPUTER-> select MANAGE -> select STORAGE ->select DISK MANAGEMENT.

Find the dive -> select/highlight the WD PASSPORT -> right click and select FORMAT. make sure to format as an NTFS drive. Depending on the size of the drive this might take a while - so go have dinner and a movie.
