Question about Whirlpool MH2175XS Microwave Oven
We have a Whirlpool Mircowave and an Oven combo the model number is RM770PX802. We received this from a friend. They said it works but don't know anything about it. I have an electrician friend who is installing it now. The Microwave has power and works fine. When he put full power hook up there is no power to the oven. He thinks it may be an inline fuse or a control fuse or a control transformer for the oven. What do you suggest as to how to troubleshoot this. We don't have a manual thanks. Tina (we are trying to get a transitional house going here for people getting out of prison and are running out of money so this help will be great.

In some Whirlpool models, there are more than one fuse, and two or more thermal devices which can interrupt power to the oven.
There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.
At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
If you don't find yours, or if you want to look at it without disassembling the oven, you can download it here.
You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

There are two screws in the vent cover (grille)that goes across the top remove those and the vent cover and you will see one screw in the top of the control panel remove that one, grab the panel slide it up and pull at the top,it hinges downward toward you and will stay there till you get the wires marked and removed from the board.

Testimonial: "TomZS - thanks, you were spot on. Four screws in the top on this model. I was able to get at the control panel. Sadly there was no obvious failure."
with any luck you have just poped the inline fuse,
if you remove the control board you should be able to see the tube fuse up by the fan motor
if not the whole thing will have to come down to reach it
