I have a 37 inch toshiba lcd tv purchased 3 months ago. The sound started cutting in and out, so it had to go into the shop. The repair guys replaced the "main board", which took 3 weeks. After finally getting it back, tonite we lost the picture, the sound started repeating like a broken record, and it would not change channels. When we turned it off and on, it seems to be ok again. Do I have a lemon? any ideas?

I had same thing happen recently on same model. Turned it on one night, light came on in screen, briefly saw info bar at top, then nothing. Cannot get picture, volume or menu. Each time I turn off and turn on the same thing.
Any solution to this appreciated.

my parents have an older toshiba and the processor went bad on it there tv also made wierd noises and blacked out. i suggest calling toshiba and see if they will send a tech out to look at the tv. Most of your flat screen tvs basically are generic computers

If you have lost sound on only one station and are using cable or an antenna directly to the TV. Look in the audio settings as most likely the SAP mode is turned on. If the TV detects a SAP signal even if there is no audio this is what you will end up with.

Its a backlight problem. Common with this model. Under warranty? If not, then its a service shop repair.

no bulbs to replace here, i might have better news for you. Toshibas with this time frame has an inverter problem. turn tv on tilt back wards at 45degree angle and flack a light to the screen and look closely if you can see the image the replace the inverter units. to help you see hit menu on remote, the menu is white so will make it more visible. If you did want to replace the inverters they are like 60-80 $ for hte pair and simple to replace.
