The "no disc" message will show up any time the unit tries to play a disc and fails. This can be because the lens is dirty or the optics have failed. Try opening up the unit and cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that does not resolve the problem, the optics are failing and will need to be replaced.

hi  check in the link

  1. www.engadgethd.com/2008/07/09/ask-engadget-hd-which-av-receiver-has-the-best-upscaling-chip/   but I would expect the pre-outs to be active all the time. You shouldn't have to enable them. You might want to try redoing the audio configuration on your ps3 - select the HDMI connection then automatic configuration. thank u........................

That sounds like a problem that needs professional service. The door may have jumped a gear, or there could be a circuit malfunction. At any rate, it's probably cheaper to buy a new DVD player. CD and DVD technology are quite precarious still, and I wouldn't expect more than a couple years service from most DVD players.

SOURCE: My Pioneer CLD-990 only plays through one side of

One of the common causes is a small crack in the ribbon cable that connects the optics assembly to the PC board. This cable is moved all the time when the optics move and when the assembly turns over. This is not a repair I would recommend to a novice. The cable is still available last time I checked and is simple to replace for anyone that has worked on these before. The tray must be removed to do this and it is tricky to re-align properly. I think the cable runs between $20-$30.

SOURCE: DVD drawer does not open when you push button to open DVD drawer

The most likely cause is damage, which should be seen with the eye. It could be a belt, broken cogs/teeth in the sledge mechansim, or a micro leaf switch bent out of place.

DVD player automatically stops and turns itself off, how do I prevent this?

Warning: Laser inside! If you want to open it up and troubleshoot, make sure you don't point toward your eyes.
Check the nylon laser carriage to see if it slides laser from center to outside line. If it sticks, it's probably shutting down from not properly reading a disk.

Hi, I need a pioneer dvl-909 service manual that tells how to replace the loading belt. Thanks, Bill

Try to see if the drawers are blocked by something either inside or outside of the case.

Pioneer CLD-95 only spins laserdiscs when it feels like it

It sounds like the read head assembly is not resetting back to the starting point so it can start off reading the "A" side of the next disc. Probably turning it off and then on resets it back to the start of the "A" side. You might try flipping the disc manually to the "B" side, let it go and then try another disc to see if it works.

CANNOT OPEN PLAYER

To open the drawer, unplug the unit while the power is on (so that the drawer doesn't try to open on its own). Keeping the unit flat on a table, look underneath and find the small hole where you can turn the loading gear. Rotate it until the unit opens, using a standard flat screwdriver. The loading gear is a white plastic part with a slot in it. You should be able to see it rotate if you move the drawer by hand.

After manually removing the disc, turn the gear with your screwdriver until the drawer is all the way in, The gear should be able to be turned for three or four more turns when the drawer stops loading. If it doesn't, turn it a bit further unit it "pops" past one more gear notch. It should then turn freely for a few more turns, at this point you should stop. Do not force it once it stops the second time. This is the "Disc Loaded" position.

Power the unit back up and see if it loads a disc and plays correctly.
