Question about Broan-NuTone Allure III QS330SS Kitchen Hood

2 Answers

What is the trick to getting the halogen bulbs into place? I got one in by pushing on inner flanges, pulling collar part way out, inserting bulb and giving it half a turn, then snapping collar back into place. After trying the same routine with the second bulb, the metal collar around the bulb now won't snap back in. The light dangles about 1/2 inch below the opening. And there appears to be no way to replace bulb #1 as there's no way to get a fingerhold on it, now that it's in place. Both bulbs to light up when I turn on the switch.

I gave wrong model number. The correct model number for the Nutone range hood is NSP 130SS-A.

  • walton9819 Jun 01, 2009

It turns out my hood isn't the Allure series. It's an NSP 130. I think it's called a professional style canopy or some such--brushed stainless steel, a classic sort of squared-off hood. The bulbs are 120 volt with a GU10 base. Problem is that I pulled down the collar assembly to get the &*%$ bulb in there because I couldn't get it to go in otherwise. (I didn't know about the suction cup! Thanks for that info.) The ring/collar for one bulb went in okay--snapped back into place. But the other one didn't like the manhandling and won't snap back like it's supposed to. So even though both bulbs light up the way they should, one of them is hanging down loose. I hope I can navigate back to your response to see if it's okay to touch the GU10 bulb, because I did....

    Thanks!!

If you have a securing clip it is unlikely that you have lamps which turn to fit and remove, I have never seen such fittings. Those lamps are called GU10. You will have GX5.3,- 12 volt 20/35/50 watt lamps which have two pins, these lamps pull straight out, if the lamp is so far back that you cant grip it, you should have been giver a little black suction cup by the installer to pull it out. If not you may be able to wiggle it out with a thin blade. As far as touching the lamps goes, go ahead, there is no risk of fire or anything else. This reply is confusing the fact that you should not touch a BARE halogen lamp as oil from your skin will stain the glass. The bulbs that I suggest you have are protected by the outer glass. I have fitted thousands of these fitting over the years, and replaced even more lamps!

In the unlikely event that you have a peanut shaped bulb behind a glass, it will be an M50 lamp which also 'pulls' out and touching should be avoided as it is a 'bare' lamp
thank you good luck

    hi this is iversh again.....

if u dont have a suction cup ...u ll be able to remove it by using a little bit of pressure on the face
of the bulb and twisting it back and forth. The other bulb if stuck, make a "handle" using duct tape on the face of the bulb.

    thank you and good luck

yes i was aware urs not the allure series.... with respect to the ur bulb..... its possible that sprockets on the end of the bulb actually might have been damaged.. even slightly cud be a problem to install properly....or it cud be a bad socket..... check if anything is bent..... iam telling this since u specify that u aplied some force... its a possibility..... with regard to touching the halogen bulbs ....If you touch a halogen bulb with your fingers, the oils from your skin
remain behind. These oils can allow the spots you touched to get hotter
than the rest of the bulb, which may make it burn out more quickly.
Considering how expensive they are, you really don't want that. The
purpose of cleaning the bulb if you do touch it is to remove those oils
so that it doesn't burn out too quickly.

    good luck....
    have a nice day

How to change headlight lamp drivers side

On the back, engine side of the headlights there is a rectangular plate which allows access to the bulbs (lamps) to remove this there are locking bars, pry these, up and down away from the plate, remove plate.
The headlamp bulb is the larger one and is retained with a spider clip, above the bulb pinch the spider clip and push slightly forward while opening the pinch. The bulb should now be loose with a wiring block attached.
Slide the bulb out of the recess, remove the wiring harness by pulling the block away from the bulb.
You can now replace bulb, which should have a protective sleeve of foam or card protecting the glass, do not touch the glass of the bulb, touching the glass will cause the bulb to blow when it gets hot.
To replace bulb, push spider clip away from recess, while holding the metal part of the bulb remove sleeve and insert bulb into recess, turn the bulb to ensure it has seated flat into recess, refit spider clip over bulb pushing forwards then pinching, refit wiring harness.
Check the lights to ensure bulb is working.

Bertazzoni hood replace bulb

First remove cover to access the bulb, pull bulb straight down being careful not to break it. to replace w/new bulb, remove bulb from package, be sure to use a cloth or some type of glove so as not to get oils from your fingers on the new bulb as this will create a hot spot on the new bulb and shorten the life of the bulb. Install the new bulb by inserting into the fixture by gently pushing the bulb into socket.

Hope this helps

1987 ford f150 need to change both headlight assemblies

CAUTION The headlamp bulb contains high pressure halogen gas. The bulb may shatter if scratched or dropped! Hold the bulb by its plastic base only. If you touch the glass portion with your fingers, or if any dirt or oily deposits are found on the glass, it must be wiped clean with an alcohol soaked paper towel. Even the oil from your skin will cause the bulb to burn out prematurely due to hot-spotting.

90744f5.jpg

Fig. 1: Headlamp components (click for zoom)

  1. Make sure that the headlight switch is OFF.
  2. Raise the hood and find the bulb base protruding from the back of the headlamp assembly
  3. Disconnect the wiring by grasping the connector and snapping it rearward firmly.
  4. Rotate the bulb retaining ring counterclockwise (rear view) about 1 / 8 turn and slide it off the bulb base. Don't lose it; it's re-usable.
  5. Carefully pull the bulb straight out of the headlamp assembly. Don't rotate it during removal.
WARNING Don't remove the old bulb until you are ready to immediately replace it! Leaving the headlamp assembly open, without a bulb, will allow foreign matter such as water, dirt, leaves, oil, etc. to enter the housing. This type of contamination will cut down on the amount and direction of light emitted, and eventually cause premature blow-out of the bulb.
To install:
  1. With the flat side of the bulb base facing upward, insert it into the headlamp assembly. You may have to turn the bulb slightly to align the locating tabs. Once aligned, push the bulb firmly into place until the bulb base contacts the mounting flange in the socket.
  2. Place the retaining ring over the bulb base, against the mounting flange and rotate it clockwise to lock it. It should lock against a definite stop when fully engaged.
  3. Snap the electrical connector into place. A definite snap will be felt.
  4. Turn the headlights on and check that everything works properly.

Hope helps, (remember rated this).

Replace front turn signal bulb

If you are changing the bulb on the driver’s side, start the engine, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right, and turn off the engine. If you are changing the bulb on the passenger’s side, turn the steering wheel to the left.
Use a flat-tipped screwdriver to remove the holding clip from the inner fender, and pull the inner fender cover back.
Remove the socket from the headlight assembly by turning it one-quarter turn counterclockwise.
Remove the bulb from the socket by pushing it in and turning the bulb counterclockwise until it unlocks.
Insert the socket back into the headlight assembly. Turn it clockwise to lock it in place.
Test the lights to make sure the new bulb is working.
Put the inner fender cover in place.
Install the holding clip. Lock it in place by pushing on the center.

Hope this helps you.

Changing the headlight bulb in 2003 dodge grand caravan

1) open the hood.
2) Carefully remove the three screws holding the headlight assembly in place.
3) Carefully slide the headlight assembly out. At this point you can replace the headlight bulb, turn signal bulb, or the entire headlight assembly. To replace the headlight bulb turn the collar holding the bulb in counter clockwise. Pull the bulb out of the headlight assembly. Replace the bulb. Insert the bulb into the headlight assembly insert the collar and turn clockwise until it locks. (Do not touchglass with your fingers or it will cause the bulbs to catastrophically fail - clean with alcohol pad if you touch the glass)
4) Carefully insert the headlight assembly back into place.
5) Replace the three screws removed in step 2 being careful not to over tighten.

How do you change the light bulb on a 2001 cadillac deville

If it is a headlight or tail light, look in the hood or trunk for the wires that connect to the back of the light housing, turn the collar where those wires go into the assembly and it should unlock. removed the bad bulb and pull it out of the socket and insert the new bulb. Be careful not to touch the element if possible with your hand. The oils in your hand will cause the bulb to overheat and burn out very quickly. reverse the process you used to remove the bulb to put the new bulb in place and make sure you lock the bulb in place by tightening the collar.

How to change the headlight bulb on a 2001 mitsubishi galant?

On either side of the headlight wiring assembly, in the engine compartment, you will find 2 small tabs. They are located to the sides and towards the bulb of the plastic assembly. Press these 2 tabs in while pulling the wire assembly out. Remove the rubber gasket and unhook the wire spring holding the bulb in place. The bulb come right out. The bulbs are halogen so do not handle the new bulb by the glass.

I believe u have the sealed beam headlight---remove the screws holding the trim ring around the headlight, being careful NOT to touch the adjusting screws that aim the unit. U want to remove the 4 screws that go into the trim piece that fits around the edge of the headlight, make sure u take a good look w/ a light, to make sure u are removing the screws holding the trim piece. Pull the headlight out, unplug it, replace w/ new one and u r good to go.
If u have the newer style headlight (I'm quite sure '87 and above do, not sure of '86), u have to replace the halogen bulb only. 1st thing to know is to be careful handling this type of bulb. Don't touch the new bulb w/ your hands, wear gloves or hold bulb w/ a clean rag. If u touch it oils from your skin will cause it to overheat and burn out prematurely, and it also contains gas in the bulb and is under high pressure, so dropping or scratching the surface can cause old or new bulb to shatter, wear goggles to be safe. Open hood, locate rear of headlight assembly, unplug electrical connector, rotate bulb retaining ring counterclockwise 1/8 turn (as viewed from the rear), and slide it off the bulb base. Pull bulb straight out, don't twist. To install, bulb goes in flat side up, insert into headlight assembly, u may have to turn it slightly to align the locating tabs, when aligned push bulb firmly into place, 'til bulb contacts the mounting flange in the socket, put retaining ring over bulb base against the mounting flange, rotate clockwise. Snap electrical connector in place. good luck! countrycurt0
