I had the same problem when I bought a house with a gas range. If you wait ten seconds or more there is a unit that heats up and ignites the range instead of a pilot. You will hear a click every few seconds then while it ignites the stove. I was afraid to wait because I smelled the gas. But after paying someone $100 for a service call that is what happened.

It is electrical and in the back of my stove there is a cord that goes in the wall. make sure it is plugged in. It also affects the burners however they have a light option on the dial, the oven does not.

Hope that helps.

When i turn on oven all i smell is gas i cleaned with a wire brush still nothing. also is the pilot light always have to be on and can you see it when oven is off

Most gas ovens that aren't electronic ignition usually have a pilot light.
Usually one in the oven area and one for each burner. (Sometimes shared between two burners.)
These pilot lights must lit at all times...otherwise it won't light up and you'll smell gas.
Usually the pilot light is in the very back of the oven and can be seen with the broiler drawer opened.

There is a small set screw located at the pilot light assembly in the oven and also at every burner.
This allows you to adjust pilot light up or down, thereby letting you set pilot light flame to a level that doesn't get blown out by a draft...or you can turn it off completely.

If you use that set screw to turn off the pilot light gas, you'd need to strike a match to light the oven or burners everytime you needed them.

I used my oven a couple of days ago, and ever since I can smell a faint gas smell. I opened up the oven and it's definitely coming from inside the oven, not from below where the actual gas pipes light.

Your pilot light must have blown out. Get a match and light it.I looked up your model number and your oven uses a standng pilot. It is attached near the rear of the burner. Check out these photos HERE

Gas oven turns on but no heat. Think pilot light is out but can't find it. Kenmore model 91130469893

Not sure how old your range is but most haven't had pilot lights for some years. The ovens use either a kind of hot-wire igniter or a spark gap for ignition. Check the Sears parts site for your model number and I think you'll find an illustrated parts breakdown that can be very helpful in diagnosing problems.

Maytag gas oven doesn't heat, but oven's pilot light is on.

Get the oven checked out by a professional, if you have a gas leak you can easily blow up the entire house and you with it. I think you have a faulty gas valve based on what you wrote

OVEN PILOT WENT OUT

hopefully the gas smell isn't too strong and posing a hazard to you. If it is, reach behind the range and turn the valve until it is across the gas line and not parallel to it. You should be able to raise the top of the range from the front and see all the workings underneath. There you will find the pilot light.

Where is the pilot light for the oven?

Look inside the oven where the burners come into the oven. Right at that point you should find the pilot light. Here is where you light the pilot. If you smell a lot of gas when you open the door, turn off the gas altogether and let it dissipate. Then turn ot on and then you can light it.
