Hello, I'm having trouble with the left button on my Logitech optical mouse. When I click it once, it often sends a signal as though I have double-clicked it (it does this about 25% of the time). Occasionally it does not send a signal at all. I tried varying the mouse double-click speed in the Control Panel, but this did not help. I tried replacing the batteries, but this also did not help. This is a recent problem. Please help.

The left mouse button doesnt work every 4th press...

I believe the switch inside the left mouse button has worn out or broken that made you think after pressing 4 times you were able to trigger the switch and make the mouse to work. You may open your mouse carefully to see if this is the case. If not please follow the below steps as you might need to configure the mouse double click speed.
Open control panel>Double click on the mouse icon>Button Tab>Double Click section>Adjust your double click speed.

Check mouse settings in control panel. There is some options for double click speed and many other options check once . If double click speed is high then system behaves like this. try to change

DID YOU TRY SWITCHING YOUR BUTTON ASSIGHNMENT (LOCATED IN MOUSE OPTIONS IN CONTROL PANEL) TO SEE IF IT HAPPENS ON BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT BUTTONS??? ALSO MAKE SURE YOUR SENDING UNIT IS NO FARTHER THAN A COUPLE FEET FROM YOUR MOUSE.
