Need to disassemble deadbolt with concealed screws

I have a Kwikset shelburne deadbolt which I am trying to disassemble. The inside deadbolt lock does not show the screws as they are concealed. Also, close to where the bolt is attached to the door panel, I noticed a very tiny hole possibly for a pin to be inserted which will somehow enable the concealing panel to be removed and screws will be revealed but I cannot figure it out. I inserted a thin long nail in this hole and tried to wiggle the deadbolt but it won't come out or become loose. I do not have a manual for it so I don't know how to disassemble this type of lock. Can you help me figure out how can I remove the inside bolt so that the lock can be disassembled?
Thank you
-Al

SOURCE: carbine 4011 deadbolt removal

First, you will need a good quality Phillips Type Screwdriver, and possibly a flat-blade screwdriver, also. Both should be Medium-to-large to fit the lock screws properly. A Cordless Electric Screwdriver is OK, also. With the door open, remove the two screws holding the bolt assembly to the narrow part of the door. Do not attempt to remove the bolt at this time. Next, on the INSIDE part of the door, look on the lock cylinder for two screws. Before removing the screws, use masking tape to hold both sides of the lock to the door. The tape will keep the cylinders from falling off the door during disassembly. Now, remove the screws from the cylinder, and carefully pull the inside and outside cylinders off of the door. Sometimes there are two additional screws inside the lock that must be removed. Wiggle or rotate the cylinders slightly, and they should come right off the door. With the cylinders removed, the bolt assembly can now be slid out from the side of the door. Put all the lock parts, including keys, in a container so nothing gets lost.

If it's like my deadbolt, pull the inside faceplate off. It's just pressed in place and the screws are behind it.

SOURCE: I have a Bioaxxis BD1

In the manual on the link below on page 39 tells you how to remove all Fingerprints. It will also put the lock back to new with no Fingerprints.

Good Luck and I hope this helps you.

You must ensure the deadbolt is in the locked position when attaching the control mechanism. The control mechanism must also be set to the locked position. Turn the manual knob to the left then attach the mechanism (with the batteries) to the flat pin. You can do all of this with the door open, so you can enter the codes. My initial install created the same issue. It worked properly out of the package, so that meant that I screwed something up. You don't need to return the item. Just do a little fault finding.

How do I tighten a deadbolt lock with no visible screw? It has key on both sides. Inside plate has 2 holes in it that I thought would rotate to expose screws. It does not. How do I proceed?

On the inside of the door, the lock has a trim ring around it. Look for a slot on the ring, place a flat screw driver into the slot and twist the screw driver to remove the trim ring.

How to tighten kwikset #991LL

Remove inside lever by loosening the setscrew and pulling. Carefully pry off the inside cover. Make sure both screws are tight. Replace inside lever. With door unlocked, the outside lever can be removed in the same way as the inside. All that is necessary though is to be sure the setscrew on the outer lever is tight. Check to be sure the lock is tight and operating correctly before closing the door and locking it.

The deadbolt inside turnbutton is held on with a small setscrew. Remove it and the inside cover. Be sure the screws under the cover are tight. Check the lock operation, replace cover and turnbutton.

I have difficulty locking the deadbolt with the key

If the lock works easily with the door open, the strike plate is not lined up correctly. If it is hard to turn with the door open, loosen all the mounting screws and be sure the inside and outside parts are lined up correctly. Also the latch is marked for correct installation. If upside down, it won't work correctly. All three parts need to line up so check for smooth operation before tightening the screws.

I have a front door Kwikset "lever opening" front door key/deadbolt lock system which has come very loose, almost falling off. How do I tighten it up\?

on the inside of the door look on the bottom of the lock cover. There should be a hole with a screw or allen head screw. Remove the screw and you can access the the rest of the lock.

I have a kwikset deadbolt model 898 keyless entry.i need to change pin number on keypad outside

I had the same question as my son installed the lock. Instructions should be printed on the cover you remove (inside the house). They need to make removing that cover MUCH easier, I'm always afraid I'll break it. Anyway, you press the button once for the first number. To enter a "guest" code, press the button twice then enter the 2nd code in the keypad and press the lock button. Now try both main # and guest #, both should open ttthe lock.

Loose Kwikset Chelsea Deadbolt

I just had the same problem as samrpetrich with a loose kwikset deadbolt. Here's how I fixed it - on the inside of the door, take off the latch that flips the deadbolt in and out using a very small allen key. There is a round plate cover that is snapped on top of the inside deadbolt mechanism. If you look on the bottom aspect of this round plate you'll see where it snaps on; once I saw where to apply pressure it came off easily - taking off this plate exposed the two screws beneath that were loose. Once I tightened these, I snapped the plate cover back on, but the dead bolt latch back and everything is tight again. Hope this helps.

Kwikset deadbolt

use the proper size alan wrench to tighten or loosen face plate . That is if you have not stripped that hole by putting the wrong tool to it. Under that plate is the 2 main screws to hold the hardware tight to the door.
