Question about Intel D865GVHZ Motherboard

1 Answer

After removing the CMOS battery and letting the board sit overnight, as instructed by Intel. I replaced the battery , and now. no beeps, or CPU fan. the status light on the board still lights sayin that power is connected.

No I didnt remove the jumper, and I guess this makes two. because I am sure either the power connector has an internal break or the bios has lost its charge.

Did you perhaps also move a jumper to clear the CMOS and forget to put it back in it's default position?

Check to be certain that you didn't install the battery backwards. (This will cause this exact problem). I have seen a case where the BIOS chip was faulty and actually lost its internal charge, resulting in no BIOS. This is rare. I still think the battery is backwards.

Remove all components from your mb and bios battery. Place jumper to clear cmos and make short to battery cmos. Leave 1min and after place cpu and one ram in mb. Replace jumper from clear cmos in normal position and verify. If not display, change ram.

If the cpu was bad- nothing would turn on--be sure the cable is good-- also be sure the VGA is enabled in the bios- since you cant see the video you have to reset the cmos setting--unplug the unit and remove the cmos battery-reinstall after one minute and check for video

Intel DG33FB motherboard problem

Dear User,

Please remove the RAMs from the motherboard slots and then switch on your computer. if it give beep for RAM then your motherboard is almost ok. if it does'nt give any beep then there would be problem at motherboard side. Then switch off your computer remove power. and then remove (CMOS) battery from motherboard to reset. and then start your computer while making sure that power is not connected to computer. this is for the releasing of power in motherboard so that BIOS gets to be factory defaults.

then install battery and RAM then powerup your computer hopefully it will work fine. if it does'nt then Motherboard have critical problem.

Won't start - tested power supply - it is good - removed cards and drives still nothing. Board looks okay - no holes - canisters are flat - what next?

re-seat the memory - how did you check the power supply - its fan working does not mean it functions properly - if you have spare try that one.

Emachine T3828 power switch connection to motherboard

The "Ultra Helpful Instructions" that Emachines provide (here: http://downloads.emachines.com/userguides/8511279_eM_NG3_chassis_HW_ref_en.pdf) state that when replacing the system board, "18. Attach all cables to new system board", but fails to say where that would be for each cable.

The site below says it's a genuine Intel board in there, so, congrats on that. http://www.e4allupgraders.info/dir1/motherboards/socket478/D845GVSR.shtml

And with that, the link to the manual:
ftp://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D845GVSR/SR_English.pdf

You're looking for the info on page 32, I believe.

See if that fixes it up. If not, post back.
