Re: ROuter does not work

Unplug the router from computer and modem, (make sure the router must be powered on ), now at the  rear side of the router there is a small reset buttom,,, press it and hold it for 30 seconds,,, (you  can use a pin or a ball pen for it )... now fater 30 seconds,, power off the oruter and modem.,.  plug the oruter as it was before,,,,,,,,,,,,,, mow start the modem first ,, once the modem is up,, (all lights on the modem are back) then start the router... now check it should work.

good luck.

Had water in the basement and even though the router cord was not affected, the pc kept saying a cable was unplugged. I've tried all the usual - unplugging all the cords, waiting and turning them back...

here is the manual page. since you said you had water in the basement but you didn't say if the computer got wet. or if the Linksys got wet or if its just ...well rather humid! If you have one computer and it hooks directly to the modem and works then you know that the computer works and the modem works. if you then UNPLUG modem, and unplug router ( BOTH from the wall not the ethernet or lan from the computer and other devices.) then re plug in modem then router. then give it 3 minutes if it still doesnt work go to command promt type in ipconfig if it shows you numbers then it is communicating. something like

if it is not lighting up at all on the router the put it in a dry place for a while.

My router shows no connectivity.

Take your ethernet cable from the wan port and plug it into the lan port.

DLink wireless router will not connect to internet we have a new modem, tried connecting through a cable, and wireless, tried new cables, rebooting, resetting and all standard procedures. Is there...

It's the modem, not the wireless router that is the problem.
The modem must have the proper account name & password for it to work.

Connect a computer directly into the modem (without router). The modem has an Ethernet connector. If you can't get Internet by connecting a computer directly to the modem, then you will never get the router to work.
Contact your ISP. They may not give you the account name / password, but instead do a service call to your location.

My wireless hp says router cannot find host name

Double check your physical connection. It should be this way

Modem > connected to Internet Port of the router
PC > connected to port 1
Laptop > can be wireless

Now you must power cycle your router and modem. Turn off router first then modem. Wait for 30 seconds. Power on modem first, then the router. You must configure the wireless settings on your laptop it doesn't connect automatically.

I moved my computer - unhooked the modem and wireless router and

Powerdown the PC, router, and modem then start the modem first then the router and finally power-on the computer... That should do it! Hope it helps!

I unplugged the cable connected to my desktop and the wireless function stopped working

You must always have a 'host' adaptor whether you want a LAN or a WAN. Go to your configuration utility or control panel via your Run command to set or view your options. Steve Medley

DI 624- Cant connect from router to computer

Hi mark - please don't rate this til it's fixed. Hook it up the way you had it. i.e. modem>router>pc. Try it, probably won't work. Unplug the power on your modem and the router. After 60 seconds plug in your modem. When all the lights return to normal (except the activity light), plug in your router. Give it 20 seconds or so. Try it and let me know what happens. Thanks.
