B&O Beogram 2000 turntable arm won't go down

Hello,
I am having a problem with my turntable. When I try to play a record on the turntable, the arm will move to above the record but not lower itself. I don't see anything blocking it. Any suggestions? We purchased it around 1984, and has worked great until today. Please help!

the tone arm doesn't move when I push the play button and it makes a terrible sound. Am not sure if something is locked that shouldn't be.

Check to see if there is a cueing lever that is holding the arm in the up position.  If no cueing lever and it has worked recently then something has happened to the changer mechanism.  Open the bottom and look to see if there is an obvious problem like something stuck or broken.  You may be able to make the mechanism go through its cycle slowly by rotating the platter with your  hand so you can see where it is getting stuck.

The needle arm won't lift and go to the record

Pull the turntable off the mount and look at the loading mechanism, I will bet you will find a broken piece.

I have a Bang&Olufsen Beogram

Similar to most Beogram 1800, the RX 2 featured record sizing by weight. When Play was selected, the centre part of the platter would raise gently, with only just enough force to lift a 45RPM single. An LP would be too heavy to lift, so the mechanism would set itself to 45RPM and 18cm if the record lifted, 33RPM and 30cm if it did not. The speed control keys could then be used to override the choice for non-standard records. The parts could also detect if a record was not present, and prevent the turntable being activated
Just put lp on and it should work

My bang and olufsen 7002 wont select the phono stage

The Phono/Aux input has a slider switch to the left of it to choose whether to make it a regular line-in jack or to utilize the phono stage. The ground terminal is just above the jacks. The Beogram 4002 likely has a muting circuit that's in effect when the tonearm is in the lift position, which would explain the lack of hum til the stylus lowered to the record.

I am trying to play a record on my Aiwa LX-120 turntable but after scanning the record the arm won`t go down.

I'm not certain that you are meant to disengage the FG lock since this means that the turntable has achieved the correct speed. The problem you have is that the arm won't go down.
I don't know to much about the workings of this direct drive turntable. But I can say you can get the service manual free on-line if that helps.

Aiwa PX-E850

Hi, most likely the auto function needs resetting. With the power off turn the platter manually clockwise a dozen or so times. Power up and play. Cheers john.

Every record skips in different places

You should look for an anti-skate control on the turntable and adjust that. It will be a question of trial and error with it as there is no fixed rules for these. The weight on the back of the arm should be set to the weight of your cartridge.

Sony PS-LX250H Player arm won't set down to play

Have you made sure the "up/down" button is not depressed? It's the furthest button to the right of the player if you are looking at it head-on. If it is depressed, it will cause the needle to simply hover above the spinning record. A good thing if you want to "pause" your musical experience, but not much help if you are trying to enjoy some sonic sensations.
