Question about Logitech Internet Chat Consumer Headset
The first time i used the usb logitech headset to talk on msn, my friend could hear me fine, but their sound was coming thru my laptop speakers. The next time same thing, they hear me...i don't hear them and there is no sound thru the laptop speakers this time. Arf this is so annoying. Other people can hear me, but I cannot hear them, and when I make their voice come out of the television, instead of the headset, I can hear them. It's really annoying because the game sounds and voices of other people both come out of the TV so it's very hard for me to hear the other people.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I am sorry to say but I think that perhaps your Microphone is faulty? These headset leads are notorious for breaking. If you know how to use a meter, perhaps you could check the circuit, and "see" if there is a Microphone attached? Could you "Test" it on another PC? But if this isn't the case below are some helpful links.. I "Googled" this --->troubleshooting microphone problems xp? http://support.plato.com/kb/tip.asp?psid=26055 www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/speech_setup_microphone.mspx

SOURCE: annoying noise + low volume
the wires are shorting internaly, if they are a cheap pair of headphones throw them and buy some more, see if you can borrow another pair to double check but i am pretty sure this is what it would be. cheap headphones dont last very long as they are mass produced junk, please leave feedback

SOURCE: No Voice Through Headset
From another website. I can't take any credit:
"I'm using Vista.
Okay, I finally figured out how to fix it ....
Control Panel -> Sound -> Right-click "Properties" -> "Levels" Tab -> Un-mute Microphone and move the slider to 100."
Then turn up the headset speaker control all the way.

The microphones on the h710 seem to be very susseptable to moisture. My first one failed to work after soaking in coffee,,,oops! My seocnd one worked great until I was out working in a field and had it in my shirt pocket. My shirt was damp with sweat. Never worked right again. same issue, I can hear just fine with it but person at the other end say they can hardly hear me. too bad, I lobe it, but they are unreliable

go to start menu, control panel, sound.
Then here go into the Tabs and select the Headset as Mic and Speakers.
