Question about Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX Personal Web Camera

1 Answer

Static on my Logitech Quick Cam, but only with one contact

My son recently rebuilt his computer. Now when we try to talk on Skype or gmail (we just tried the gmail videio/audio today in hopes it would cure the problem but it was no different) there is a horrible static sound after about 30 seconds. He says he can not hear it but on our end it blots out all conversation. The strange thing is that it does not happen with us when talking with anyone else and he says we are the only people he has trouble using his Logitech camera/audio with.

Set up skype

Hello stemo777

First thing is verify you have the drivers for the cam installed. Any other software is not needed.

Next on Skype click Help--> Check for updates

After updating skype, click Tools--> Options--> Calls--> Video Settings
There is a drop down menu, make sure you select your camera as skype will be set on default.

This should allow you to talk with others on cam. Thank you for trying Fixya! Post back if you need further help.

Connecting live web cam to another

You need to install one of the Messengers to be able to communicate with your son and he will have to do the same.
First, go to this site and download SKYPE http://www.skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/ and install it on your computer. He will also have to download it and install it on his. Once you get it set up and he does you can add his contact ID to your contact list. Then to setup the audio/video follow these instructions.
Normal 0 After you install Skype and have it operational with your ID. Go to "TOOLS", click on "OPTIONS," Then go to "Audio Settings" and click on it. Make sure both the Microphone and Speaker's are correctly chosen. Then "make a free test call." Wait till the voice tells you to record. Then when finished talking wait for the test persons voice to insure your audio transmission is working. Then go back to options and test your video settings. Click on Video Settings and proceed to set up you video camera. Also, you can visit this site for additional information to setup video.

Contact's cam on skype

Is the problem occuring with only one contact? If yes, then its fault from your contact side.

or

Is the problem coming on with same computer? If yes, then try to reinstall the program and also take support from the Skype.

If it is coming with other PC and other person too, then it will be a problem either in your Account or from the Skype side.

Installing a logitech

Go to http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/support_downloads/downloads/&cl=gb,en
you can download drivers from the Logitech support centre. You'll need to look on the webcam (or packaging if you have it) and find the model number. Select your product from the drop-down boxes and download the relevant software onto the pc. If you then unplug the webcam from the pc, and plug it back in again the software will begin to install, you will have to click next a few times whilst it is installing.

My Logitech quick cam 4000

Are you trying to use the cam on different programs at once? You will need a 3rd party program (splitcam, etc) to do that. The Logitech software was designed to use ONE program at a time with it.

If this isn't the case, please be more specific with the problem at hand. Thanks.
