Kitchenaid refrigerator removal of front grill

There are several models of the Kitchenaid KSRG25FK available. Some have a water filter in the grill below the freezer compartment. The filter is behind a cap that will rotate counter-clockwise to remove from the refrigerator. It is possible to use these refrigerators without the filter (with the cap in place). There is a friction fit spring clip on either end of the plastic grill. Just pull it out straight. It is a snug or tight fit and takes a little force.

Try vacuuming/cleaning the coils behind the floor grill.

Hi Wayne,

I believe I can describe the procedure.

1. Remove the front lower grille.

2. Look on the left and right front lower part behind that grille and you will see one of two things. Leveling legs or you will see bolt heads right over a wheel. These bolt heads are adjusting bolts. I ll go over the bolts because legs are fairly easy.

3. Choose the wheel in the front that is going to support your unit the best and turn the bolt just above it. It will be okay you can turn it with no problems you will see the wheel go up and down. Thats it.

4. I have posted a tip just below for you to read about leveling and doors. If you follow that you will be fine no laying the refrigerator down.

Changing the Water Filter
1. Press the eject button to release the filter from the base grille.
2. Pull the filter straight out.
3. Turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it from the filter.
IMPORTANT: Do not discard the cap. It is part of your
refrigerator. Keep the cap to use with the replacement filter.
4. Align the ridge on the cap with the arrow on the new filter and
turn the cap until it snaps into place.
NOTE: You can run the dispenser without a filter. Your water
will not be filtered. Simply insert the cap all of the way into the
base grille and rotate the cap until it is firmly in place.
5. Remove the protective covers from the O-rings.
6. Push the filter into the base grille. The eject button will pop
back out when the filter is fully engaged.
7. Flush the water system. See “Water and Ice Dispensers.”

It only turns 1/4 turn. Attached is the service manual for the water filter system.\Copy and paste the link.

Remove the screws from the bottom grill cover. Use a vac brush to clean out that area. You should also pull the frig out from the cabinet and vac behind.
