Question about Cuisinart Grind and Brew 10 Cup Coffee Maker

2 Answers

I Have a Cuisinart Automatic Grind & Brew Thermal that when you start brews a small amount of coffee and then shuts off. I shut off grind and start. After I do that it brews a full pot. We have cleaned well and still does the shut off after a small amount is brewed. Dave Our Cuisinart won't finish brewing the coffee. It stops after just a few cups of water. I have to turn it back on several times to get the water all out of the reservoir. Tami

Mine is an old machine, I have tried the cleaning recommended with no resolve. Finally I took it apart and found the aluminum in the heating coil is oxidized. (White coating) this meant the sensor was also oxidized. (Blue wire) Removed the 2 screws holding the element and the clip holding the sensor. Cleaned all the white off and voila. New machine. You will need a torx 10 screwdriver to remove screws from the bottom. FYI: the inside was clean and had NOTHING to do with it.

My beloved coffee maker finally bit the dust. The main problem was where the circuit board is located, just above the basket. When the brew cycle starts the steam causes water vapor to enter the electronic area and short out the board. Sorry. Bad design. RIP.

I do love our Cuisinart pot...but find they only last 2-3 years...so my suggestions is: if the pot is still in warranty, call Cuisinart for a new one...they are great about it. If you don't know if it is still in warranty, call them, give them the number and they will tell you.

SOURCE: Cuisinart Grind and Brew will not emply all the water

The two most common reasons for overflow or underflow have to do with the carafe lid and the filter basket - they key to smooth flow with this coffee maker is making sure the filter basket and carafe lid are making the proper contact with each other so that the center knob on the carafe lid pushes slightly up on the filter basket spring. Make sure the carafe lid is completely closed. Make sure the filter basket is pushed all the way down. Make sure you are not using the gold tone filter and a paper filter at the same time. For some reason, I get better results when the handle of the carafe is resting against the right side wall. If everything is in place, I would suspect a problem with either the filter basket being clogged or some problem with the carafe lid - call Cuisinart as they should be able to order these parts for you.

SOURCE: cuisinart grind and brew

This happens when the machine needs cleaned. Fill coffee maker with white vineger instead of water. Turn grind off, make sure empty pot is in place. Brew a pot of hot vineger. Repeat. Brew a pot of hot water. Repeat. This process removes mineral buildups inside machine. If you have access to filtered water, start using that to brew your coffee. I do and probably do this process 1 per 6 weeks.

Presume this is the Grind & Brew Thermal™ 10-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Model # DGB-600BCC

An instruction booklet is available here: http://www.cuisinart.ca/pdf/ibs/en/DGB-600BCC_en.pdf

Review the sections beginning on page 11 of the pdf on Turning Off the Grind Function (if not using the grind feature) and Making Coffee.

Make sure you are turning off the grind function if using preground coffee and that the reservoir lid is securely closed.

Check the Cups Setting button; is sounds like the 1-4 feature may be turned on.

you need to run a few pots of straight white vinegar through the machine to clean out the lime build up in the tubes. the first time you do it, after it starts to pump the water, shut it off for a few hours and let the vinegar sit in the tubes. after doing this run a few pots of cold water through before making coffee.

Automatic Grind not working

My grinder was not working properly, because the blade was not rotating freely. So we carefully chipped away some caked on coffee residue. Then it worked for awhile, but started to sound weird and only partially grind the coffee. So we applied a small amount of vegetable oil to the blade and let it seep down a little, and that was very succcessful! Just needed a lube job!
