Question about Washing Machines

2 Answers

Leaking water To Whom It may concern: I have a maytag washing machine which is dripping water from the bottom of the tub right above the transmission. It only occurs when I have a large load of laundry. When I have a small load of laundry it does not leak. Should I replace the tub bearing or could it be something else? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Alot of times you may have to replace the inner or out tub which can be hard to install. Laundry Parts Market has the complete tub for cheap and is also alot easier to install with 2 people (it's heavy). http://www.laundrypartsmarket.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=LP-W10269756

Does not sound like a bearing problem. Check to see if water is overflowing the top of the tub during spin cycle (due to spin action) and running down the side of the tub.  Water rising up the side of the tub during spin cycle could also be squirting up through bleach dispenser opening and running down side of tub.

Water dripping into washing machine tub

Your water inlet valve where the water supply hoses connect is probably leaking because it's not shutting off completely because of sediment in the water line. Replace it or you can try cleaning it.

Water built up in Maytag Washer Model MAV-17

I would check the water valves or the water lines. If the water valve is leaking, the water could be running out and following down the cabinet then in to the tub, or the water valve water line that leads right in to the tub there for leaving a water build up.

Water leaking

If the water is leaking at what seems like the beginning of the spin cycle it might be the hose connection to the drain pump or the pump itself. If so, it's a lot easier to fix than the drum seal.

Leak from maytag top load coin machine during spin drain cycle only

Possible that you would have a tub seal leak if it is only noticable during spin cycle. Possible that it "drips" slightly while in agitation, but not enough to notice it. While in spin mode you have a lot more parts moving as well as a lot more water pressure on the seal itself. Pump could also be leaking, but highly doubtful since it would leak a constant amount at all times. Good Luck!!! Jim
