I have a 2000 Toyota RAV 4 and the factory roof racks are too close together to make me feel comfortable with my bike up there. How can you adjust them? I have a 2000 Toyota Rav4 with a factory roof rack installed 24 inches apart. I need it to be 30" apart, but don't know how to adjust them. Also, when I bought the vehicle (used) there were no keys which worked with the rack.

also you need 4 rubber pad's looking is attached on the base of the racks, and 4 clips (conected the roof rack w/ the brackets on the roof on you rav) and the key (is the roof rack are locked).

at the end of the roof rack poles are locking devices. They are simple to unlock but are usually a little tricky to find because we dont want them accidentally unlocking when you strap something to them. You have to unlock both ends to move the bars as far apart or as close as you want.
