Check the input voltage into the radio while in transmit. The voltage maybe dropping as you go into transmit which causes it to drop into receive. That in turn allows the voltage to come back up. With your finger still on the PTT it tries to transmit again, etc. This could cause a feedback squeal and other symptoms.

Why is humming coming from speaker when mic is keyed?

this is strange as most times if a proper transmit key is depressed , then the radio switches from receive to transmit , the mfg know this would cause some great squeal from receiver /transmitting so close to a receiver so the part that is the receiver is muted to keep this from happening , id say there is some fault in the part that does this muting of receiver

How far will it transmit

good antenna, good radio, good match, barefoot, should transmit about 10 miles providing there isn't to much ground noise.

Loud squeal/feedback noise when transmitting from a Kenwood TK-3230 to a TK-3400U4p

If you're close enough to hear the receive on one radio while transmitting on the other, it's good old-fashioned feedback. Turn the volume down on the receiving radio.

R/sig meter spikes on my uniden pro538w cb when keying mic

Does the radio put out and receive? And this could be as simple as your SWR switch isn't in the right position. But if your radio seems to work fine then I wouldn't worry to much about the meter it could be out of line I've seen that many times even on new radios.

My Uniden pro538w is very soft when transmitting, Is there a way to increase mic gain with this radio. I have tried three different mics. all sound like your whispering

Hello Drew
looks like you may have to take this radio in for an alignment. It is to new to to much info on the web yet but sounds like the limiter in it s set to tight and may not be giving you full legal audio.

My galaxy 959 sqeals and does not receive or

mike has wiring problems. Check for breaks in cord and where the plug goes into the unit. If not original mike then has incorrect wiring for the radio and will need to be changed for config

The squeal in this model is a famous problem. If you look at the circuit board, you'll see there are a few places where it looks as if someone kinda forgot to put in a ground screw -- even to the point that there are threaded holes in the casting just begging to be filled by the little screws used elsewhere nearby. Take 3 or 4 similar screws, put them in the remaining holes, and make sure all (including the existing ones) are snug. It seems there just weren't enough ground points for all the RF swirling around on the solder side of the board, so there's a bit of RF feedback on this radio. And as long as you've got about 16 amps of clean DC, you're fine; the power leads are correctly fused at 20 amps. BTW, the power amp module in this model is really only spec'd at 144-148; if you're running an odd "MARS or CAP" split, the PA brick can get way unhappy. HTH, -- Barney --

CB Squeal When Transmitting

I believe the coiled coax may indeed be the problem. To check, try a temporary rerouting of the cable which eliminates the coils. Dave g.
