Question about HP PSC 950 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Using only the black cartridge

I have a hp 950 and only use the black. It obviously keeps asking me to align the cartridge and i do it and do it, of course wasting all of my ink.
I try to print selecting printing in black.
It will not let me print although my black cartridge is brand new. I do not use the color one and do not want to invest in a $50.00 cartridge
can i side step this and just print in black and get it to stop asking me to align cartridges?

Go to the control panel on the maintenance, configure the cartridge used, change to "black cartridge only"

You printer maybe lock in alignment status.
You could try a hardware reset
Removed both of your cartridges
Unplug the printer
Wait at least 30 minutes
Replug back the printer
Install back the ink cartridges and align

On an HP PSC 950, I'm getting a repeated "Press Enter to Align Cartridges" message when I try to copy. Got a response from a previous expert that wasn't even applicable to this model, and no response...

hello, the reason your printer is constantly trying to align cartridges, is it did not complete the alignment, machine must complete alignment, so this message will go away, this machine requires all #15 black ink cartridge and #78 color ink cartridge, it requires the color ink to be working since it uses either yellow or magenta ink for calibration, also black ink has to working for this to work. now if the ink cartridges are known good ink or printing ink cartridges, then the problem maybe the sensor that detects the color when it prints, you may try with a soft wet or damp paper towel, when cover is open as if you are replacing the inks, unplug printer from power, move carraige to left alittle bit more, on the right hand side of carraige, you might see a black piece of plastic, behind that is the sensor, use the wet towel and wipe the bottom part of carraige and sensor, do this several times. now go ahead and close machine and power up, see if machine will pickup paper, print the calibration page. if all is working it should pass.

Hp PSC 950 gives me a message to remove and check black cartridge

Did you remove the tape from the contacts of the new black cartridge? If so once the new one is in, unplug the printer from power and power it back on, it should do a full check after a power on off.

My printer keeps telling me to remove color cartridges, and I do, then it tells me to align, and i do, wasting all my ink, and it just keeps doing this over and over

Check this HP FAQ:

My hp psc2175 is keep asking "press enter to align cartridges", even though I did many times and it printed many time. I don't know what to do with it.

Read the manual. Or check online. Often when it wants you to align the cartridges, it then wants to scan the page that just printed.

I cannot get my cartridges to align. I keep getting a error message. It print black, but not in color

Have you already solved your problem? There are at least three posts about the same problem and about the PSC 950.
If you solved your problem, please comment, saying how you did it, so you can help others.

If you didn´t solve it, check this HP FAQ:
Solving Print Cartridge Alignment Problems

Note that it says (in the end) that you can bypass the alignment page and use the information from the last successful alignment in your printer, by pressing and hold the Enter button, and then press Setup .

I offered this same suggestion to another poster, who replied it didnn't solve his/her problem. It might work for you though. Please try and give some feedback (even if it is not positive).
