I'm not sure if i understad the problem. This is posted under Generic Dell PC " Desktops " is your computer a desktop or a laptop?

If it's a laptop, you may need to replace the battery, or the charging unit.

If it's a Desktop, you should not have anything to charge.

My laptop charger intermitently charges and won't charge, I have to find a "Sweet spot" for it to charge, but recently the "sweet spot" just vanished. Help!

Hello, the problem you are having is caused by a loose connection on your motherboard between the charging port and the motherboard. You can either open your computer and try to solder it, or you will need to replace the motherboard.

Thanks for using FixYa!

How do I get my product number that Microsoft keeps asking for?

They're asking you for a Product ID, this can be found under My Computer:

Left Click on Start
Right Click on Computer
Left Click on Properties
Whether you have Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, your Product ID will appear in this window under "Registered To" or "Product Activation". Keep in mind that Microsoft covers Technical Support under a one-year warranty. After this time has passed, Microsoft will charge you for Technical Support. Also, if your Product Key consists of the letters "OEM", you will need to contact your computer's manufacturer for technical assistance.

I have to leave my laptop constantly pluged in otherwise it goes blank

I doubt the problem is with XP. Scroll across the icons in the bottom right of your screen and find the one that shows your current state of charge. It should tell you if your computer is charging and what % of charge you currently have. My guess is you have a bad battery and you will probably find that the computer is charging but the battery is not accepting it.

Hi There, I have a HP Pavilion ZE4900 and recently the AC plug in won't work. I have taken the battery out and put it in another comuter that is the exact same and it charges fine, I put my battery in the...

If your computer won't charge the battery, but the battery charges fine in another computer, and you are sure that the charger is good, then your problem is probably the DC power jack. If you wiggle the end of the power cord where it attaches to you laptop, and it starts charging properly, then the DC power jack is broken.

Okay just got this comuter from someone and i cant enter administ

It sounds like it used to belong to someone else. Go to Control panel and set yourself up a new account but make sure the account is set as administrator. Use your new account to add new programs and stuff. Problem solved.

Hi,
Installing Windows XP will have no effect on your charging system. Have the charger and plug socket checked at your local PC store.
