Rusty vent in boat house door

I have a hole (12" x 12") in a door in my garage that opens to my boat house which is located under my townhouse. The hole is covered by a vent (grill) which is made of metal and I need to replace it with a vent made of plastic or PVC because it constantly rusts out. I have tried Lowe's and Home Depot and they do not carry a vent the size I need which is currently 14" X 15". Can you help?

You can put on a brass vent cover, it will outlast you and the cost is less than replacing the tin one every 2 or 3 years.

I reset my liftmaster/chaimberlain keypad (976LM) and now can't access garage. Is there a default code? No other access into garage (new owner to this house).

Make sure the battery in the keypad is good. You cannot reset the keypad without access to the opener. You will have to find a way into the garage.

A door technician uses a special tool to pull the emergency release after drilling a small hole in the door. The door can then be lifted without damaging anything. A keyed manual release assembly is then installed in the hole to be used if there are problems in the future like a power outage or malfunction like you have now.

It is normal for an air conditioner to leak water out the back. This water is actually the humidity being taken out of your house. Being vented out in to the garage is always an issue with condensate water. I have seen some people take a funnel and run a hose outside the garage somewhere. Keep the vent closed. It will be harder to cool the house with the vent open because it lets outside air in to the house.

Sounds like a problem with the safety photocells, to confirm locate the where the safety input is on the opener and bridge out the terminals ( not the supply voltage terminals) if the door then closes the photocells are the problem.

I think what you are saying is you have no way into the garage other than the large door and your open er is not working. If you cannot force the door up enough to crawl under it your best bet is to call a door company. They will drill a hole in the door and use a special tool to pull on the release rope. They can then install a mechanical release in that hole for future use.

Craftsman 1/2hp garage door opener does not go down to floor

I'm no expert, but on a previous door opener I had (don't know the brand), the side adjusting screw basically adjusted a limit switch, which was located inside the plastic housing (where the motor is). I was able to remove the housing, figure out which limit switch was actually being contacted "too soon" on the way down and adjusted it while watching it.

Just a suggestion, you might take a look.

just keep your hands out of the way of the chain and sprocket if you do take the housing off. .

Garage door opener chain out of sync with door

There are two white screws on the sides that adjust the limits. Adjust the "down" screw less. You should have to turn the screw 4 full turns for eight inches. After you make this adjustment, test it without the door being hooked up to prevent damage to the door or opener if it tries to close too far.
