Question about Dell A920 InkJet Printer

Dell A920 cartridge stall error.

When I went in to change the ink cartridge, the cartridges flew to one side or the other but not where I could change out the ink cartridge. It slams the ink cartridge into the side jarring the printer. It's worked fine all day up to this point when I needed to replace the black ink cartridge. I've already tried unplugging everything and then trying it again. I've troubleshooted and it just said contact manufacturer. I couldn't find the help I needed on the Dell site. Cartridge stall

Hi, I HAD the same problem, but not anymore!! I just opened the top to expose the "inside of the printeri" and checked the long clear band at the rear behind the print head. Make sure that the clear ribbon is NOT TWISTED. There is a small metal bar with a small extended part on the far left interior of the printer. Just make sure that the slot on the clear band is fitted on that extended part. This will put the print head back "on track" This worked for me!!

Please unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. Now plug everything back in. This will reset any error messages the printer has. Now open the printer with the power on and the cartridges should go to the center to be replaced. Take out both Dell Series 5 ink cartridges and make sure the tape is off the cartridges and insert both back in and make sure the seat properly and latch. New ink won't print i think it is full of dust

Hi

Some times it needs a good clean up but this is up to you if you want to do this I put down here. But after you don this prime the printer so it gets the inks back in the heads, it may take a little time for the inks to work.

Ok it got to be the heads blockage
There is fluid cleaner for this but I can never find any in the shops the only ones I seen is when they sell them in Tesco but they come in with the ink refill bottles so I just use worm water by it self on a cloth and dabbing on the heads to clean them, it will not harm the heads but not to much water.

Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them,
It worth a try it worked for me more than ones.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

hi there !

-try the old cartridge if it will print the correct colour; the problem is the cartridge; otherwise it is the printer.

cheers !

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, check/clean the encoder strip. This would be the long narrow plastic strip with barcode like markings. Ensure that it is clean, no smudges, ink marks or any paper debris that may obstruct a light sensor passing through it other than the barcode like markings.

Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Dell A920 Printing Problem

You should check:

1. Did you insert correct the cartridge in the holder?
2. Check if the contacts are clean in the cartridge holder, maybe something is ther and the needle-type contacts from the printer does not push right on the cartridge contacts.

Flashing Green Light/ Computer can't communicate with printer......

Hi. The flashing code signifies that there is a fault with the connection between the ink cartridge and the printer - usually because either the tape is still on the cartridge or maybe some glue from the tape still on the contacts. In my case, I think the cartridge was simply knackered, so I threw it away and opened yet another ink cartridge. It now works fine.

If you want to test yours, simply take out both ink cartridges, and re-insert them one at a time. If you've put a working cartridge in the flashing will stop; if you've put the dodgy one in it'll still flash. Just replace the dodgy one.

Hope this helps.
