What do you need to know? I have a Mac connected by USB to new Canon MX860 printer. I try to print, it looks like it will start and then goes immediately to Jobs Stopped. How can I get it to stop going to Jobs Stopped and start printing?

Trying to get new Canon MX860 to print connected to my Mac with USB. It starts to print but then goes to jobs stopped every time. How can I fix it?

Have new Canon MX860 printer that printed tests fine. Now connecting it to Mac via USB and every time it tries to print, it goes to "jobs stopped." How do I fix this?

  • richardeisen May 30, 2009

I will try one more time: I have a new Canon MX860 printer. Its test printing worked fine. I am now trying to print connecting it to a Mac via USB. Every time it tries to print, it automatically goes to Jobs Stopped. The ink cartridges are clean. The drivers are Canon. Can you tell me how to get the printer to print from my computer?

If still it does not work and you have a compatible OS then you should disconnect and reconnect the USB cable at both ends to ensure there is a secure connection on the device side as well as the computer side. It may also be necessary to try a different USB port on the computer. Additionally, you may need to disconnect other USB devices, temporarily, in order to determine if a conflict exists.
Note: Some printers have a type-A USB receptacle on the front to connect directly to a digital camera. The type-B receptacle, on the printer, will connect to the type-A receptacle on the computer with an A to B USB cable.

    1. Disconnect one end of the cable and then reseat it ensuring the cable is firmly seated into the USB port. If the USB cable is plugged into a hub instead of directly into the computer, try connecting the USB cable directly into the computer.

    2. Repeat step one to reseat the cable on the other end.

    3. If there is still no communication, then it may be necessary to try a different USB cable or a different port on the computer.

    4. Make sure the correct USB cable type is being used.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

    Thanks

1. First, clean your printer. Get some spray-n-wipe cleaner and a clean cloth and clean the entire inside of the printer. Also ensure your paper isn't dirty. Now print a test page. Does the symptom persist?
2. Remove all jammed paper. Check the paper tray first. Look closely at the paper rollers nearest where the paper exits the printer; this is a common source of jams. If you’re trying to print labels, they will often jam just before exiting the printer.
3. Try to print a test page. Does the printer still jam? If you can find no source of the jamming, check the printer's message display window and refer to your user’s manual to look up the printer error code.

OR=

1. Check the printer and/or the software to see if "manual feed" is selected. If manual feed is selected, the printer may be looking for paper in another tray.
2. Reseat paper. Ensure printer is on-line. Check for paper jams or obstructions.
3. Likely suspect: paper-out sensor is damaged or broken. Consult a computer repair shop.

need to be sure the printer is working with another computer. if the printer works with another computer than you have a problem with your mac. if doesnt work something is wrong with the printer.

turn off the printer wait 10 seconds and turn it on with pushing freshment button with one is upside. and it will be test itself. if test ok. you dont have problem with the printer. your problem with the Mac. if test goes bad. need to look all part inside it that we cannot see from here.

    hope helpful

Canon mx860 printer not using ink from PGBK 220

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Override empty ink tank on Canon PIXMA MX860

The title of this topic is for the MX860. It has no "RESUME" button, so the advice submitted by cene765 does not work. But there is a solution.

The MX860 has two black ink cartridges--one small (like the colored ones) and one large. So, you will run out of colored ink way before you run out of black. I found that by selecting the "Gray scale" printing option, I could still print with color cartridges being very low. Even when the printer told me that the color cartridges were empty, I could still print by clicking the "OK" button. However, this does not last. Eventually, the printer will flag the color cartridges with an alarm. When that happens, the printer stops working, freezing at the alarm until you replace the cartridge.

However, you can still print. What you need to do is press and hold the STOP button for a few moments. The alarm will be released and then you let go of the button. Printing can resume. This happened to me where the alarm was triggered by the cyan cartridge, before I could even try to print. When I used the STOP button bypass, printing started but was then flagged by the magenta cartridge. I thought for sure that pressing STOP while in the middle of starting the print cycle would abort it, but thankfully it did not--the alarm was cleared and printing resumed.

Canon MX860 prints crooked!

Does this happen when printing from the cassette (bottom tray), or the sheet feeder in the back, or both? Check that the paper guides are set snugly (touching but not buckling the paper) against the edges of the paper.

Canon 4150 wont print , goes into queue

Have you gone into the queue and deleted the print jobs and started again? Do you have any error lights? If so there could be a hardware problem with the printer.
Try taking out the toner and putting it back in. Sometimes that will force the printer to reset intself.
If that doesn't help then you may have to delete the printer from the system and re-install it.
