Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Says more than one yellow cartridge is installed

My Canon Pixma MP 830 is giving me an error message that more than one yellow cartridge is intalled. Of course it's wrong: I have all 5 orginal cartridges installed, and there's plenty of ink in the yellow one.

Yes, I tried unplugging, and tried hitting the reset button--but that just elicits a beep.

The printer won't let me do any cleaning because of the (supposed) multiple installations of the same color ink. I tried manually cleaning with a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol, but that didn't resolve it either. I assume I need to get a new yellow ink cartridge. (I tried putting another color in the yellow slot and it didn't blink the way it does for the yellow cartridge, so I assume the cartridge is faulty.)
    Thanks for trying!

You may recover the printhead by unclogging it. Follow these steps to unclog the printhead:

  • Right click in the printer driver name
  • Select Properties menu
  • Click Maintenance tab
  • Click on Cleaning sign for regular cleaning. Perform this up to 3 times.
If this does not work, perform Deep Cleaning

What is error e5 in mp 198 printer

E5 - The ink cartridges are not installed or a non-supported ink cartridge is installed , or the ink cartridges are not installed properly..

  • In certain models of Canon Pixma printers such as the Canon MP160 and Canon MP150, you may receive an E5 error when trying to print. In this state, you will not be able to use any of the functions of your printer. The error itself is an ink cartridge error. It may be that you are using generic or off-brand ink cartridges in your Canon Pixma printer. Canon Pixma printers do not work with other brands of print cartridges; invest in Canon brand ink cartridges and this should take care of your problem.

    Refill canon pixma mp 150

Yes you could refill those types of cartridges, but i would not suggest it! Unoriginal ink will cause loss of quality and also if not sealed correctly it could spill allover the printer and will certainly cause damage.

    Canon Pixma MP 780

This may seem to be a stupid question but, is it the right cartridge?

Is it a genuine Canon cartridge or an aftermarket replacement that "suits" your printer? If the latter, try getting a genuine Canon cartridge and install that and see if you get the same error message.

If you still get the same message, take it to a repairer and get them to check it out for you.

    Good luck.
