Re: change sd ram to ddr ram

Because you didn't indicated the version of you motherboard I need you to go to the ECS website

On your left select product category motherboards, socket 478, model P4VMM2, the right version and download the manual for your motherboard.

If you look the manual there are few jumper that you need to change.

Usually JP1, j2 and J3 like on this picture.

Let me know if you have problem with the manual, you can give me the version type and I'll find it for you.

Hey All, THIS IS URGENT. My PVCLE266M-L V3.0a will not boot into any OS. I have 2 identical boards. I can navigate BIOS on both of them with the DDR400 512MB RAM stick I have put in. (The specifications...

Your mainboard PVCLE266M-L does not support the DDR 400 Mhz RAM (PC3200) ie @ 400Mhz frequency. For the memory specfications it support "2 x 184-pin DIMM sockets support two2.5V DDR SDRAMs (DDR266)" maximium is 2GB or DDR PC2100 ie @ 266Mhz frequency.

PC133 is the SDRAM so it will not fit the DDR RAM slot.

You should not use the 400MhzDDR memory RAM on a Mainboard with a FSB(Front Side Bus) of 133 Mhz and the 400Mhz DDR Ram is not compatible with the mainboard.

Get the DDR 266 with double side chipset i.e.DDR1 RAM (DDR PC2100) RAM and it will be compatible with your mainboard. Sometimes single side chipset DDR1 RAM will not work on older mainboard.

Hope it helps.

I have a Soyo P4VGA MB. When I purchased the board I made a huge mistake a nd installed only 256mg of DDR. Since then, I tryed to install a second stick of 256 DDR (same brand and specs) but the computer...

Take both ram sticks out and turn the PC on. If it makes no sound at all with the stick out this means you have a problem with the mother board. If it screams like a banshie the board should be okay. Try putting the new stick in the slot where the old one is and the old one in the other slot. It might read it that way, no guaranties this will work but it won't hurt. It is also possible you got a bad stick. It does happen.

Hope this helped.
Good Luck

if u have SDR then dont add DDR
getting compatibility is little difficult...

Ram compatabilty for k7s5a motherboardand can I run a 1gig of ram with this board

A really unique MB since Each DIMM slot can accommodate DIMMs up to 512 MB in size, although both DDR and SD-RAM are supported, but any one at time, i.e. one among consisting of a bank of 2 DIMM slots(blue pair & black pair having the pairs 2 slots each) for DDR or 2 DIMM slots for DDR or SDR memory cannot be used at the same time. Thus the board supports either 1 GB of PC133 SDRAM, or 1 GB of DDR sdRAM, but not both at the same time.

I hope you got the Catch 22 here !! Nice low costs for doing simple work?
but it's a Catch 22 situation{either choose the Devil or Hell !) ................. sodeep

Ddr not detected

if you want to use ddr ram with p4vmm2 mother bord you must replace the jumper near by the ddr2 slot
then your computer starts to work with ddr ram at 266Mhz also 400 Mhz too.

Betwin the two couples of memory soket it must be ajumper that guives you the abilitie to change over the frequency rate when you change your memory model .
If there is no jumper try to check if they are not using a strap soldered in the mother board then you will need some electronic skills to change over your frequency
