Why does my GE Arctica Side by Side refrigerator make groaning noise?

All new refrigeratos make some sort of groaning noise and this noise is heared at diffrent times of the day. This noise you are hearing is what we call refrigerant noise. As the liquid frigerant is moved through the system it gets to a point were it will enter the capillary tube at this point the frigerant flashes in to a gas (changes from a liquid to a gas) when this happens it tends to make moaning and groaning noises. There is no real fix for this noise.

GE SIDE BY SIDE ICE AND WATER. FRIG MAKES A LOUD MOANING SOUND . EVERYTHING WORKS OK, EXCEPT FOR THE NOISE.

Hi,

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong. If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then…

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Moaning noise in steering column

The probably lubed the intermediat shaft conenction. The loud poping noise could be from them not sitting the boot back correctly. Inspect your boot. As for the moaning noise Only thing I can think of is a hydraulic noise.

Condensor sounds like it moans for a couple of seconds instead

Hello aeruslady1,

Do you mean the compressor? I'm sure you do. The condenser is the hot refrigerant line that comes off of the compressor.
It just sounds like you have an old compressor. I have seen them make noises for years before they take a dump. If it continues to run loud even after it starts however, then you may need to clean the condenser coil or replace the condenser fan motor. Another thing that might make it run loud is some refrigerant lines may be rubbing against something. This can be remedied by bending the lines.

Hopefully this helps.

Sincerely,

Hotpoint side by side has recently bugun making a lot of noise

Check for frost in the freezer compartment that may suggest a defrost problem which would cause it to run for extended times and make more noise. The other possibility is that if the fan is making a up and down type of noise, it will need a new fan in the freezer section due to a faulty bearing in the motor.

Fridge makes loud moaning sound

It is the control board. There is a recall on certain models and serial #'s that will cover the parts, but not all are covered. do a google search for hotpoint or GE howling noise. you will find out all the info you need.
