It sounds like the camera itself has failed. If you bought the computer within the last year, you can get it repaired by Sony, otherwise unfortunately you only other option is to buy an external webcam and use that.

Sounds like a possible driver issue.
Go to Sony's support site and download the latest drivers for your Camera, namely the WebCam Companion software to ensure you have the proper drivers for your integrated webcam.

A restart is usually needed after the installation.
Test the software to ensure you actually get proper video from the webcam after driver installation.
Test it out on Skype if all goes well.

Go to Device Manager, is there a yellow traingle next to the audio devices?

First, you need to close all the Application that is using the Camera. Please right click on the "Camera" icon on the right side of the Taksbar and click the "Exit" . After that, please open the "WebCam Companion" Sofware and then try clicking the "connect" button.

If the issue still perists, please uninstall and re-install the Webcam Companion Software in the Computer to resolve the issue. Please make sure that you restart the Computer after uninstalling the Webcam Companion Software. Then, please download the Software from Sony Support Site and re-install it in the Computer.

Download the file and save it in a folder in the Computer. Then, open the folder where the file is saved and double click on it to begin the installation. Then, please follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation process.

Re-installing the Webcam Companion Sottware should fix it.

sounds to me like you have a corrupt install of the capture utility. I would try and reinstall that piece of software after completely removing the first install.

Firstly, are you trying to use your wireless internet or someone elses?

Because if it's someone elses, thats exactly why they've put the password on so that other people can't use their connection.

However, if it's your wireless network you're trying to connect to, then it would be worth using your wireless cd software to change your password to something you know or to take it off completely (not reccomended as others can use your connection). You can put the cd in your own laptop and change the password.
